Sad.  A patriot and a good man.  He was arguably the first casualty of the Tea Party/Trumpist movement.  I wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with his passing on this particular day.

The Tea Party and Trumpism are separate phenomena, and though the latter can be said to have emerged from the former, they're pretty clearly enemies at this point.

He was a good man, but I do not regret supporting his opponent. And just to correct the record, he was defeated by the closest thing in the Senate that there was to Ted Cruz, two years before Cruz got elected. Mike Lee.

Poor guy had a stroke at the same time he was suffering from pancreatic cancer. What a bad way to go.

Indeed, if they were the same thing then Republicans would not be accusing Trump of being a moderate.

Wonder who'd be Senator now had he survived the Tea Party.

Speaking of Mike Lee, does anyone know if he's still blocking aid to Flint? Haven't heard anything about it in a while and Google isn't turning up anything recent.

When one has pancreatic cancer, a fatal stroke is a blessing.

Rest in peace, former Senator Bennett.
