A GOP House leadership crisis right after the convention? Music to my ears.

He is a moderate who disappointed and rejected conservatives. Who care?

If Paul Ryan is a moderate, then I suppose Susan Collins is a fiery Maoist.

Trump not ruling out effort to remove Ryan as Convention Chairman.

I'm sure Ryan will be crestfallen.

Trump has Paul Ryan in a no-win situation.  Trump is taking the posture that he doesn't need folks endorsing him and campaigning for him, and who's to say he doesn't?  Trump, the Leverage Ninja, is maneuvering himself into a position where they will need him more than he will need them.  Ryan's not likely to lose his primary, but Eric Cantor wasn't, either.  And Eric Cantor was a big shot on the Hill as well.  This new reality is a consequence of the GOP conditioning its voters to not elect Reps and Senators on the base of what monies they can bring home from Washington.

It would be interesting to see where the House/Senate Republicans will run above/below Trump in November. Will tell us a lot about the US geography.

Even if that happened, they can still elect him Speaker.

True, but they won't.

Hopefully both sides keep chewing each other out that PR refuses to endorse.

There's a (likely) junk poll out of sketchy polling firm AMP Calypso showing Ryan trailing his primary challenger by 7 points, 48-41.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Charles_Winthrop

It says his career was over by 41, but really it was 45 (1854, with the destruction of the Whigs in MA. Up until then he could have made a comeback).

Anyway regardless, #Retired@46 (shame his birthday wasn't in September instead of January. Tongue)

Except thats not an endorsement.  And you'd think that if he really were going to go back and endorse Trump later, he wouldn't be so quick to relinquish his position in the convention.

Yeah, this is more like doubling up on non-endorsement. Basically, he is saying he does not care about the Republican convention this year. He will, probably, not even attend.

Voters don't forget as we seen with Jeb and others this year even Hillary in 08 with her Iraq vote.

If he goes #nevertrump and trump loses whats to say that 4-8 years from now when he tries to run some other candidate much like trump wont come in and tag him with not supporting the voters wishes ?   Its prob best to just back trump so at least he can say I tried.

It's a bit of a melodrama that Trump needs to close down. The Bushes (Presidents) would also have been handy.
