How do you think Atlas posters would've reacted to the Civil War? What would be their ideologies and groupings? I would've been a Douglas supporter in '60 and then supported his anti-secession campaign before probably being drafted into the Confederate Army.

I could see BRTD and some of the other more Progressive Democrats being Radical Republicans or the like. ExtremeRepublican strikes me as a Fire-Eater.

For me personally, I'd be a strong Seward supporter and Lincoln in the GE, but very much against secession. I would have volunteered, but against the war from a pacifist standpoint.

No. Literally TexasGurl is the only Atlasian who has the courage to serve in the military. Not a single one of the "OMGZ I'll join the Grand Army of the Republic" would not be able to survive the march out of DC.

I would have been weird politically, a staunch abolitionist though critical of Lincoln suspending habeus corpus and at first might not have given a sh**t about saving the union since I would want those states to go unless I knew that them going would lead to the abolition of slavery. Definitely would have picked up a gun when the rebs invaded PA though.

Depends where I was born in this hypothetical answer (obvious answer) .

In light of that, I would've supported the Union.

I legitimately descend from Radical Republican state legislators from Missouri and Tennessee, as well as several families of Alabama and Kentucky Unionists. I tend to put myself in a Southern Unionist mindset when reading Civil War history.

Oh, I would have read Lincoln's speeches, like the Cooper Union one, and realized we had a modern Shakespeare on our hands to attend his masterful balancing of principles to which I subscribed, and political viability, and become a big fan of his, and supported him every step of the way. I would have been  frustrated that he didn't fire McClellan's ass sooner, but Lincoln proved he had the right touch about the timing of these things politically.

Landslide Lyndon would be a huge Douglas' hack, accusing Lincoln of being a far leftist.

A number of Southern posters would be a part of the #NeverDouglad crowd.

I'd probably be an abolitionist anti-secession Union nurse, leaving NC after it seceded. Ineligible to vote, but still a Lincoln hack.

I would've been radical Republican, still think it's not too late.

Also, the resident neckbeards would all have been sporting some badass muttonchops

A third of Atlas would be condemning abolitionists as SJWs another would be concern trolling about Lincoln's "overly violent" response to secession.

The other third would be sperging and making future election maps for both sides.

Depending on things I would

A) Be a Radical Republican

B) Be in Utah Territory, sitting on the sidelines working to build the Salt Lake Temple.

Republican then as now.  Not as ideologically inconsistent as the left prefers to believe.

Jfern would obviously consider Lincoln a moderate hero and predict he'll lose the 1864 election, due to turnout being moderate.

I suspect I would've been a Radical Republican who would've enlisted into the Union Army as soon as the war started.

Then again, maybe Radical Republican isn't the best description.  While I'm fairly certain I would've been anti-slavery and would've wanted a more immediate end to it than what Lincoln supported, I don't know that I would have been a full-fledged abolitionist.  However, I probably would have advocated for greater rights and protections for blacks.
