Derpist would be slamming abolitionists for being SJW's.

Salty.

Anyways, I'd probably vote for the most moderate candidate possible (either Douglas or Bell) in hopes of staving off civil war.

Would obviously sit out the war because I don't support war in general. Would probably voted Lincoln in 1864 because the Confederacy was clearly screwed by then; winning the war would have been the fastest way to end it.

Once the war was over, I'd probably go be a carpetbagger Radical Republican of some sort and get chased out by an angry mob eventually.

My only family here at the time was in West Virginia, so I'd be from there. I'd still be a Democrat and I'm very anti-war, so I'd likely be a Cooperhead at the time.

I would've probably been a profuse Lincoln supporter, opposing both radicals and democrats alike, probably would try to get protections for black people and support civil and voting rights for black people, of course I wouldn't support full equality.

The factors that lured us down here would not exist. Therefore, would still be in NE PA, the rural parts of which are heavily Republican and my family on my Mom's side is ancestrally Republican. The Northern tract of counties was settled by New Englanders by and large and therefore had some of the most Republican counties in the state.

Definitely you'd oppose interracial marriage, if not fighting the South.

That said, I'd probably vote for Bell or Lincoln. My ancestors included a delegate to the Arkansas secession convention, but he was poisoned by a group of fire-eaters for being a unionist. The other two ancestors involved were a Unionist father and Confederate son who fought on opposite sides in five battles, IIRC. The son was a wagon driver and the father a militia man.

Just can't resist pointing out that this was absolutely Constitutional.  Carry on!

If I knew then what I know now, I'd have let the South just secede. They are an embarrassment to America.

It seems like you're very upset.

Lincoln didn't actually free the slaves. He freed them in places not under Union control. Which meant it was the Confederacy, which he did not have authority.

So, what your saying is we needed to stop them from seceding so we do have authority...

I wouldn't have missed the South if they did secede seeing how they are today.

Lincoln cared not how many slaves were free. He cared about Union preservation.

Yet the slaves managed free despite the myth of Lincoln freeing them.

Now, though, 150 years later, the South has shown what a disgrace thet are, hampering progress yet again.

If the South tries to secede again, I won't miss them.

Lincoln pushed agressively for the passage of the 13th Amendment, which did free all slaves.

The Emancipation Proclamation did not free the slaves like people thought.

Lincoln preserved the Union, but I'd hardly call him John Brown.

Well yes, John Brown, God bless his soul, was a terrorist. Lincoln was a world-class statesman.

I'm upset because it's people like you who are setting the cultural and rhetorical tone for the American 'left' these days. If the points you're making were in any way relevant that would be one thing, but as it is you're clearly just trying to obscure and spin away from being called on your repulsive, elitist, racist take on cultural liberalism.
