What would Atlas posters be like during the Vietnam era? BRTD would probably be some type of hippie jesus freak that supported RFK. I'd be for Eugene McCarthy. TNF and Snowstalker would probably be in the weather underground.

I'd be having an identity crisis as a RFK '68, Scoop Jackson '72 supporter who had a bit of a soft spot for Tricky Dick, but was turned off by his race-baiting.

I'd have been a George Wallace-supporting redneck.

I'd be an angry white hippie girl (but less racist than the ANHW of our time).
My voting record would probably be a lot like that of Massachusetts.

Pretty strong anti-war person. Wouldn't be about that hippie life, but a "work through the system" liberal. I would probably be an RFK supporter.

Atlas would be condemning the Kent State students and blaming them for getting themselves shot.

I'd probably be a reluctant HHH guy wondering why he didn't just distance himself from 'Nam.

Huge Johnson and Great Society supporter. Would probably bleed out in a rice field as some sort of karmic justice.

I probably would have been supporting Reagan during the primaries, but ultimately gone for Nixon. I also would've felt the same way about George Wallace as I do about trump.

Like most Americans, I would've started out as a strong supporter of the Vietnam War, but become more critical of the war once it became clear that we couldn't win.  Would have supported civil rights legislation and most of the Great Society, but also would've been pro-law and order and condemned the race riots and anti-war violence at home.  And I would've wasted no time condemning the hippies and anti-war activists as the spoiled brats they were.

Would've probably remained neutral in the 1968 GOP nom race, possibly going for Rockefeller or Romney.  Definitely would've supported Nixon in the general.  Simply put, I would've been a moderate Republican.

I'd be having an identity crisis as a RFK '68, Scoop Jackson '72 supporter who had a bit of a soft spot for Tricky Dick, but was turned off by his race-baiting.
Nixon did not "race bait."  He gave strong support to civil rights in his inaugural address.

Yeah, and all the Wallace voters just flocked over to Nixon because they... wanted to reduce the deficit?

In my case, one does not need to hypothesize. I was in college enjoying my deferment, and then at just at the right moment, when I was about to graduate, the draft went away, and I spent the balance of the Vietnam War in graduate school, with Daddy paying all the bills (including for booze and pot and gas). Wasn't I heroic? Tongue

I would probably be called a "populist" do to my dislike of Nelson Rockefeller.

I'd hate to see if I'd support Wallace or not. I'd easily choose Nixon with historical hindsight, but I assume I don't have that here.

I would have really hated the counterculture hippie movement with their deviance and drugs.

I would've done whatever it took to avoid being drafted even though my disabilities keep me far from any position of that happening.

I can see Lief as a blind LBJ hack, raging about "losers" and "traitors".
