Inspired by ExtremeRepublican's thread, I decided that "what if the guy in last place was pitted against the other guy in last place? I will make predictions later

2016: Jim Gilmore (R) vs Martin O'Malley (D)
2012: Randall Terry (D) vs Michelle Bachmann (R)
2008: Duncan Hunter (R) vs Bill Richardson (D)
2004: Carol M. Braun (D) vs Jack Fellure (R)
2000: Orrin Hatch (R) vs Lyndon LaRouche (D)
1996: Jimmy Griffin (D) vs Bob Dornan (R)
1992: Jack Fellure (R) vs Douglas Wilder (D)
1988: Douglas Applegate (D) vs Harold Stassen (R)
1984: Harold Stassen (R) vs Alan Cranston (D)
1980: Cliff Finch (D) vs Howard Baker (R)
1976: Lawrence Daly (R) vs Terry Sanford (D)

who wins? who loses? discussion by maps is optional

Maybe you should make it "whoever won the least number of states one or more."

Then what about 1984, 1992, 1996, 2000 (with Bradley), 2004 and 2012?

IMO, then it should be the Vice Presidential candidate.
