The Dems and the GOP control access to the national debates. There's a reason why Trump and Sanders are running within one of these major parties, and it has nothing to do with their politics. When people begin to realize that there are other options besides D and R, we may begin to see an opening up of the process. Until then, it's clearly a political chicken and egg situation.

15% support across at least 5 national polls. I've heard that Johnson is a pretty terrible debater anyways. Clinton and Trump would crush him in a debate. I don't think that Johnson wants his reputation damaged. He shouldn't be allowed in the debates.
