I'm beginning to like Maine more and more. If only LePage wasn't their governor.

Will they also vote to abolish their undemocratic caucus?

LePage is already trying.

I legitimately can't tell if this is sarcastic or not.

Good, they should. Then in the future we won't have to hear any whining about the super delegates.

Can they get run-offs finally? That would be even more democratic.

I've heard there are legitimate efforts to move to primaries in Colorado, Maine, and Minnesota.

Good, now just switch to a primary and they're set.

But how will this work in practice? Will it force one of the superdelegates currently committed to Hillary to vote for Sanders? And if so, which one? Or is it non binding this year?

The DNC should mandate that all primaries should be closed and a simple vote.

A) National rules override state rules.  This resolution is voluntary this cycle and probably unenforceable in 2020 unless the rules are changed at the National Level.

B) Maine has already passed a Presidential primary for 2020. They still have to appropriate money for it but the Primary bill has been passed and signed.

Ballot Initiative on the ballot this fall would institute IRV for all offices but President.

LePage and Baker are actually the best New England governors lol.

LePage is a moron and a puke.     He's probably one of the worst governors in the country.    The only reason he won either of his races is because of the goofy three way races in Maine.

Tough to mandate closed primaries when many states do not have party registration.

Yeah, um, this means absolutely nothing. 100% unenforceable as all superdelegates are unbound at the DNC.

FF. Great idea, especially in a state like Maine.

No, luckily that would be impossible to enforce as many states don't even have party registration.

I hope it passes. If it does there will probably be lawsuits but if one state can successfully institute IRV I think many would follow.

Great move! Maine proving once again it truly is a fantastic state! Hopefully other state democratic parties live up to their name and abolish the vast majority of superdelegates.

Maine was originally part of the great state of Massachusetts, after all.

Caucuses inform people. "Sheeple" voting is bad for the interests of the people at large.
