I don't see a thread on this, but there have been a rash of knife-wielding maniacs falling to police bullets here in San Francisco. The result has been five people going on hunger strike in protest. The hunger strikers are in the hospital now, but their supporters raided City Hall.

Pretty bad that the police are coming under fire for doing their jobs. Fortunately, Mayor Lee and Chief Suhr have been standing firm in opposition to these protests. The police can stand to reform, but they must not bow to the pressure of people who won't even respect the rule of law.

Well I'm totally confused.  How can you be against a cop shooting a crazy guy with a knife?

Hippies suck.

There is another "cops did nothing wrong, bad people died, people freak out" story going on in Tampa/StPete right now.  3 teenaged girls stole a car, ran from the cops, drove into a swamp and drowned.  Between the 3 of them, they had been arrested 7 times in the last year for stealing cars.  Whatever you do, don't watch the video of their mothers talking to the local news.

But it was clearly the police's fault for all of this.

My dad used to be a cop in the Greater Columbus area in like the late 90's, and the culture towards the police has changed so much since then. The cops have been used as a scapegoat because people aren't wiling to say that they aren't wrong. As a result, the whole "police brutality" issue has gotten way too out of hand.  Granted, there are some times in which the police may act out of their limits but it has been due to these idiots making it near impossible for the police to do their jobs. Its truly sickening seeing all this crap happen

The media selectively edited a video to push the outrage. The cops who witnessed the car drive into the swamp, entered the water to attempt to rescue the criminals. Meanwhile, on the other side of the swamp, additional police cars arrived, and exited their cars to watch the various cops already attempting the rescue as well as to wait in case they were needed. The media obtained dashcam footage of this second group of cops watching the rescue, and claimed that this was actually the first group of cops, and that no one attempted to rescue the drowning criminals. Big time lie and a great disservice to the cops who did attempt the rescue.
