More white Evangelicals will vote for Trump over Hillary.  McCain was no more religious than Trump, but he was a Republican and a War Hero.  (Even if he got shot down.)  What drives many Evangelicals is a sense of Patriotic Nationalism that rises to the level of being added to Scripture in the minds of some of these folks.  Patriotism is part of their religion in a real way.

Trump knew what he was doing when he launched "Make America Great Again".  These folks are blindly Patriotic to the point where they will overlook Trump's superficial religiosity (he doesn't really try to fake it anymore) and focus on the flag.  That's what the Falwells are doing, and that's what Franklin Graham is doing.

Now they know how the moderate/liberal Republicans felt 30 years ago when they got kicked to the curb by Falwell and Co. Tongue

Unrelated, but why do evangelical churches always have to be so...ugly? Even the larger, wealthier ones just look like generic movie theaters or conference halls.

Can't they glorify God by constructing magnificent cathedrals like Catholics do? At least put some stained glass and stonework in.

Even the Catholic Church stopped building cathedrals decades ago due to costs. I can tell you from growing up Catholic most new churches, just like new Protestant churches, lack the kind of beauty you're correctly describing.

Good! One step closer to eliminating the religious right's sick and twisted influence on American politics once and for all. Smiley

Clearly the first step to building a winning coalition is to kick out a third of the people who currently vote for you.

Trump isn't doing much to bring Evangelical unity, he is even attacking his Evangelical challengers...

FWIW, this is the UCC church my uncle attends in Hartford:

Definitely not something you see much of these days, let alone for UCC churches.

That's why I like the "strip club church" aesthetic so much. Rather than try to replicate something they can't and go for a generic and ugly look they instead went for something more unique and that works. And like I've said its not just a strip club it resembles, most trendy night clubs or dance place has a similar lighting style.

More proof of Trump as the truly centrist candidate, albeit one prone to unfortunate verbal excesses.
