Honestly I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it well because I don't know enough about the major players and possibilities of the era, but I'd like to give Japan a try. I'll start research for possibilities soon.

Communist Spain? I hope for their sake that France is going left-radical and not right-radical!

What particular brand of leftism is this Spain? I might have missed particulars; all I saw was that it's NOT anarchism.

There's something I can't tell from the map: was the Panama/Nicaragua Canal ever built? I think I can see Suez in there, but I see nothing of the sort in Latin America.

I am checking this thread for the 5th time today now. Work is a bit slow to be fair, but still.

Eh, you weren't around for attack on Mecca.

Now, that was shivering.

Yeah, that was something else. I believe all players had a collective "holy ____!" (and I had one writing it myself). And spoiler alert, the Middle East Remembers.

PS: Apologies for killing Prince Albert (George VI) so randomly, but I couldn't stop myself.

I've been putting it off but if there's stuff like this in there which radically changed the world from OTL that'll be reappearing here I guess it's finally time to go through the old game threads.

China was very well done. That being said, it seems odd to me that Sun "Expel the Manchus, revive Zhonghua, and establish a unified government" Yat-Sen was willing to bend the knee to the barbarian emperor. I suppose politics creates strange bedfellows...

Also, for future use, which faction or leader would have been the ones in 1922 to purge the pro-Japanese parliamentarians? From what I can tell, Sun Yat-Sen was still alive but Chiang was already in power. Was it Chiang?

To be fair to all these autocrats or quasi-autocrats resisting more democratization, there doesn't seem to be much proof so far in this world that democracy works. It worked for a while in the United States, but that ended in corruption, violence, and a coup. Every attempt to keep a republic working in France has ended in violence and/or autocracy. The same goes for Italy and Spain as well. The only really democratic place left is the United Kingdom, and that's recently led to a decade of successive failures in government by all sides of the political spectrum.

Edit: And of course everything I've said is now incorrect as Germany is the One True Democratic Hope.

I was hoping the Japanese navy would be a bit larger as well due to all the money it gets and without the limits set by the Washington Naval Treaty...I suppose I can correct it through the game as long as I stay patient.

Just to clarify something: are all orders, including "secret" orders public? What determines whether something should be PM-only?

Oh no! The pre-talk talks are becoming deadlocked! Now we'll never get to see the ACTUAL talks get deadlocked!

As long as those Spanish heretics cooperate, they have nothing to fear from us. We promise Wink

They aren't heretics, they're blasphemers!

I am too. It would be sad if this game petered out when it was starting to heat up.

It's Lumine's decision, not ours. If a potential player is motivated enough to join at this point in the game and to take up a smaller nation I say why not let them.

Maybe see who says they're still interested over the next few days and decide how to take things from there? If half the players just don't respond it'll probably reduce the workload quite a bit while (possibly) weeding out the most inactive players.

Apart from that its hard to say; we (or at least I) don't know everything you did as GM that added the most complexity or what in particular we did that pushed things over the top.

You do indeed still have Japan. There's no way I'd miss it.
