Not sure about SD, Clinton won there in 2008, with Obama already presumptive nominee and after he swept all neighbouring States.

Unfortunately a narrow win won't be enough. Although every state matters, CA is the one that matters most and Sanders may need 65%-75% (depending on how he does elsewhere)
I think he can win CA, but it may be a tossup.
