What does everyone think about this article? It's something I've definitely been thinking about for a while. Doom sells, so the media sells it, and that just makes people think everything's going to hell when there's so much real good in the world. And not silly "you won't believe what this cute puppy did" stuff, but actual good news about what's getting better in country and the world.

It's why I don't (generally) watch news on the TV.

It's not just TV, or even just the media in general. It's bloggers.

It's politicians on both sides.

It's people in general, honestly.

It's not as if the pervasive pessimism we see around us is entirely manufactured, though, when you consider how the middle class (and its earning power) has shrunk over the years, which the recent recession (and slow recovery) has laid bare for all to see.
