Has everyone on this forum forgotten the fact that Trump spearheaded the Kenya birther movement against President Obama?

Once Obama starts campaigning against him, his numbers with Blacks will be even worse. Obama will remind them of Trump's birther non sense and racism.

Yes .... very good point.

Identity politics is awful. I suggest he just focus on policy, flip-flopping all the way.

Does he need to reach out? According to him, he has a great relationship with 'the blacks'.

Talk about how NAFTA and the TPP has shipped jobs away from the AA community. Talk about the AA unemployment rate, and talk about how he is a businessman and he knows how to create jobs and talk about national security as well. There is a lot of macho AA men that like Trump's rhetoric.

This is his best shot.

It will be very difficult for TRUMP to reach out to the black community. His endorsements from the KKK and David Duke will hurt him a lot with this group. TRUMP should focus on trade and immigration (since AA are very anti-free trade) in order to make improvements with this group. I predict that TRUMP will get around 8-12% of the AA vote.

He has to address (and he already did) their job problem. Too many blacks are unemployed. TRUMP must convince them, that his policies will lead to job growth.

Uh...bribe their leaders into endorsing him?

Barring that his best hope is to win back black conservatives and peel off more young black men.

Are the AA community more socialist in their views?

It is difficult for any Republican to win the Presidency whilst you have ever increasing ethnic groups looking for free education, free healthcare, subsidized housing who will vote Democrat.

The latino vote would be increasing faster than the AA vote, so their views of daily life in the US are what Trump should focus on.

Trump will be yugely successful if he can get the Latino vote on his side.

He could try, but it would be a giant waste of time. There is no way to make this up to them in time for the election and/or in a way that doesn't alienate a large number of his current supporters.

Trump should forget the non-white vote and focus entirely on white voters at this point Roll Eyes

Promise them their wages will double once he drives out all the Hispanic competition?
It won't be true, but it should work.

^Reaching out to Black voters would be a much bigger waste of time and one of the worst decisions he could make. He CAN make at least some inroads with Latino voters, even though he has a low ceiling.

Not really. Not every black voter cares about Duke, etc. They're too busy working, they feel left out by the government right now. Trump needs to appeal to ALL Americans. Not every black voter dislike him. They like his success to the top, his business, his casinos, his macho style talk. Trump could win 6-10% of the black vote.

I agree, he could win 6-10% of the black vote.  And that is a shi**y showing.  Putting the Obama years aside it would be at the lower end of what Republican candidates normally get among the black vote in Presidential elections.

If Trump getting 6-10% of the black vote is somehow being taken as a good sign by Trump supporters I can't do anything except laugh.

Yes, improving from 11 to 12 percent will surely see him nominated.

The gentleman is from Australia. He is confusing Latinos with penguins, though he probably knows less about either than about the dialectical variation of Latin spoken in German universities during the 15th century.

I don't think you guys realize that Trump is now pretty much despised in the black community. He'll be lucky to get into the high single digits nationally.

He is "despised" by almost all groups ...
African-Americans
Hispanics
Women (also white women)

Probably turnout is more important than anything else. What Trump should try to do above all is to avoid offending blacks any more than he has. With Obama not on the ballot, turnout could drop, or at least not rise because of demographics as much as it would otherwise. The best way for Trump to reach out to blacks is for him not to give them a stronger reason to bother to go vote against him.

If Bernie couldn't do it on single payer health, Trump won't do it pro second amendment. Trayvon Martin and DC handgun case looms very large to blacks. Victims of gun violence

I think, without Hillary in the race, blacks overwhelmingly vote for Bernie.
