Given all that has happened since Donald Trump began his campaign for the Republican nomination, in particular the deplorable behavior of many Trump supporters, should the Republican Party be renamed the Rethuglican Party?

I'm not so concerned about the actions of some Trump supporters, nor do I think a whole party should be judged on the basis of a handful of people who claim to support it. I am far more concerned at the presumptive nominee's eager embrace of racism, sexism, and bigotry, his dog-whistling to fascism, and his repeated public calls to make violence a part of the political process.

(And why bother renaming it now. After November, it's either going to be a broken wreck that can call itself whatever it wants, or the Trump Party, complete with cheap gold T armbands.)

Well, it does raise the question of whether "Republican" is a good party for the ideology they espouse and whether "Democratic" is really appropriate either.
