Here is a list of clues:

1. The list is 5-6 people.
2. Jon Huntsman, Newt Gingrich, and Chris Christie are almost certainly on the list.
3. There is only one person on the list with no government experience.
4. There are women on the list.
5. Jan Brewer and Mary Fallin might be on the list (especially the former).

The shortlist will eventually be released. Whoever comes closest to guessing all 5-6 correctly wins.

My predictions:
1. Jon Hunstman
2. Chris Christie
3. Newt Gingrich
4. Jan Brewer
5. Susanna Martinez
6. Ben Carson, maybe (since Donald Trump said that there is one person on the list with no government experience)?

I think it's down to...

- Newt Gingrich
- Jan Brewer
- Mary Fallin
- Jon Huntsman
- Bob Corker
- Ben Carson

Not in any particular order. I do think Christie is also a possibility, but less likely than those six. I would also imagine his list includes people he knows would be actually interested (which is why I left Martinez off).

1. Jon Huntsman Jr. (R-UT)
2. Newt Gingrich (R-GA)
3. Jan Brewer (R-AZ)
4. Mary Fallin (R-OK)
5. Scott Brown (R-NH)
6. Chris Christie (R-NJ)

Ben Carson is the emergency back-up plan.

In case everyone on the short list just happens to simultaneously fall into an incinerator?

I can't see Carson even being the emergency option to the emergency option. The man has been a complete trainwreck as a surrogate.

Did Trump actually say he'll release the shortlist? This really is the most high profile season of Celebrity Apprentice.

It seems that some people have developed a serious case of amnesia so let me remind them a couple of facts.

Hunstman has served under Obama.
As his ambassador in freaking China.

He's a Republican with executive experience as Governor of Utah. And he's moderate enough to be picked by Obama, and reconcile with the establishment, and win over swing voters. He also has a lot of foreign policy experience. He has arguably the most seasoned résumé of anyone mentioned on this thread.

There is no shortlist. TrumpJohn Miller is lying.

(How do I know? His mouth is open, and he isn't speaking under penalty of perjury.)

I honestly think he should pick Carson.  He's going to go down in flames regardless, so why not just go for broke give the American public the most hilarious, ridiculous 3 months we've ever had and ever will have?

Maybe I'll offer my predictions later. But since this is somewhat relevant, I'll give my opinion on the matter:

-If he picks a white person, he'll be hit harder on the "racism" stuff.

-If he picks a man, he'll be hit harder on the "sexism" stuff.

-If he picks someone with no experience, he'll be hit harder on the "inexperienced buffoon" stuff.

-If he picks an old person, he'll be hit on lack of youth assuming Hillary picks a younger person as running mate.

For all her many faults, Clinton can hit him on #2 and #3 better than almost anyone. Also #1 once Obama backs her.

And note: I'm not saying Trump wouldn't be attacked on these things if he picked a non-white experienced woman, I'm simply saying that he can use traits of his running mate as a "shield" of sorts for these attacks, and a way for people who dislike the Trump brand to better stomach voting for The Donald.

Anyway, Susana Martinez might be the best pick for him. (Que an account of every single fault Governor Martinez has. Tongue)

Note that these might not all be willing to be his running mate

Christie
Gingrich
Martinez
Ernst
Kasich
Chuck Norris (one of them was supposed to not have government experience)

How about letting the people choose through SMS voting?

Yeah.  Even if he's "down to five or six names" right now, I don't believe that's fixed.  His short list is whichever five names he was thinking about most recently.

For once, I agree with jfern. Those are my picks as well, minus Kasich and Chuck Norris (lol). I'd include a RWNJ like Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann in there as well, and as for someone not having government experience, there's always the Duck Dynasty doofus lol

Sorry I don't buy that his campaign *really* has a true short-list at this stage in the game. I can't imagine that they've already limited themselves to 5 or 6 people especially as more and more GOP deleted officials and leaders are beginning to endorse Trump.

So it seems like people have a list of 6, so if I had to guess the 6 that Trump claims are on the short list, I'd guess the following (in no particular order)

1. Joni Ernst
2. Mary Fallin
3. John Kasich
4. Chris Christie
5. Newt Gingrich
6. Rick Scott

However, I don't think the list will actually be that small. I think there are other candidates that could be on the short list of 5 or 6, or on a longer list. I think Trump is also considering...

1. Sarah Palin
2. Susana Martinez
3. Scott Brown
4. Bob Corker
5. Jeff Sessions
6. John Thune
7. Ben Carson

Yes he is. The center of American politics doesn't revolve around your views or what you want it to be.
