The Arkansas Times - July 1st, 1978
Breaking News: Attorney General Clinton Killed in Car Crash!

Tragedic news coming from Pine Bluff, Arkansas where late last night Attorney General Bill Clinton and an unidentified woman were killed in a drunk driving accident. The Attorney has been found not under the influence, but the driver of the other vehicle, 22-year-old aspiring televangelist Michael Huckabee has. He is currently en route to Jefferson County jail, where he will stand trial for driving under the influence and unintentional manslaughter.

The unidentified woman has been found to not be his wife, who was contacted earlier this evening, nor a staff member. This news will be a shock to the political scene where a tight race for the Democratic nomination for Governor had already been brewing. We send our condolences to Mrs. Clinton tonight and to all friends and family of the Attorney General.

Poor Clinton. Sad (I'm not a fan of his, but it's still sad that he died ITTL.) Will we get Governor Joe Woodward now?

Tsongas/Brown or vice-versa '92! (Though in all honesty, Brown's crime stances might've seriously hindered him in a general election int eh 1990's, so Tsongas might be more realistic)

Interesting... Keep it up! (Perhaps we'll see Cuomo '92?)

The Dems will still hold the Arkansas governorship in 1978, and whoever is elected will not repeat the OTL mistakes that Clinton made in his first term. And he might not have national political aspirations.

This will definitely butterfly away Huckabee in politics and that is a good thing.
