I often see people list this as something that could make Trump win at the last minute, but I'm not so sure.

Depends on how big and how successful.  I'm sure ISIL will try something to help get Trump elected, but it would have to be something on the scale of Paris rather than Boston to have any measurable effect, and even that would be offset by the retaking of Mosul and/or Raqqa, assuming that happens before the election.

Nah. They could just try to kill him and fail. I'll be half-surprised if he doesn't stage such an attack himself.

It's amazing how Hollywood and the US media dream up nightmare scenarios for US citizens which then materialise later on. The media can destroy ISIS in 6 months by not paying attention to them.

The Democrat who drew that ad is a lot more stereotyping racist than Trump.

It would help Trump somewhat.  To what extent would be determined by Obama's response.

It would also depend on the magnitude and location of the attack.

Would help TRUMP. However, hopefully it never happens (the attack, not something elese that helps the Donald).

The whole "radical Islam" debate is a big loser for Democrats.

The scary thing is I see this actually happening.

People play by the fear card. Nobody wins with the fear card more than Republicans do.

Yes. As has been pointed out for a while, TrumpMiller is far closer to Mussolini than Hitler.  (Of course, even Mussolini and Hitler served in their nations' militaries, unlike the cowardly, draft-dodging Republican nominee.)

Could someone explain why it would help Trump, when people tend to trust Clinton more on foreign policy?

Clinton comes out better on foreign policy when people think with their heads. After a terrorist attack negative emotions are going to run high.

Considering the polling which shows people have a stronger view of Clinton as better handling national security and international affairs, the idea that so many here think that this would benefit Trump is bonkers as well as shows that many have bought into the Trump pyramid scheme.

It'd result in an astounding Trump victory (Cf. V for Vendetta)

My liberal Italian uncle (now in his 70s, age-wise) says Trump is more like Silvio Burlesconi than either Mussolini or Hitler.

He's a mix of Wilders, Le Pen and some more left-wing party.
