You mean telling somebody that I prefer being referred to as "he" rather than "she?" Really? Hard as it may be to believe, I have never thought about that before. If somebody referred to me as a "she," I would assume that it was just a diss on my gayness. and pray for them that Jesus will be merciful, when they are subjected to a final judgment.

Or am I missing whatever very important point that you are trying to make BRTD?

Well yeah, if you've ever been around a bunch of little kids at any point (such as church group, or you have parents that give music lessons, Boy Scouts' younger siblings, babysitting jobs, etc.) it kinda comes with the turf that someone will forget the difference between "he" and "she".

Yes it was a pretty normal thing to do in a lot of classes/clubs at my school since we had a lot of non-binary people.  You introduce yourself by saying your name and what pronouns your prefer.  Everyone just went by he, she, or they though.  This "zi/xie/ze" stuff is new to me.

No (not an American). I'm reasonably sure people understand I am a man.

Those invented pronouns aren't actually new, I was vaguely aware of them when I was in college over ten years ago.  But they're pretty niche and are likely to remain so in perpetuity.

If anything, singular they is even more dominant than it used to be among non-binary people, as it has a much better chance of being understood and accepted by the general populace.  I have to think this is on balance a good thing.

As for the OP: I've never seen it in person, but I have seen it on the internet, where nobody knows you're not a dog.  So eh why not.  It's not worth getting worked up over.

On the internet, I've grown accustomed to the assumption that everyone is male. It could lead to an epic troll where someone claims to prefer "she", gets hit on by creepers, and then responds as being a man who just likes the word "she".

Yes.  Once.  I don't mind if you're in a group of people who are largely non-binary...otherwise I prefer people to just assume.  If they ask, I will tell them...and if they specify I will use their preferred pronouns.  Otherwise I will also assume.

Yes, this was a pretty common thing at my college, unfortunately.  We would all have to go around in a group and waste time stating what pronoun we preferred even though it was obvious.  It would make more sense for anyone who prefers a different pronoun to just speak up and correct it in conversation, but I guess that would be 'transphobic'.

On the Internet, yes.

In real life, I haven't done it, but I'm not really opposed to doing it.

Yes, but not with respect to the pronouns used to refer to myself.

In Bible translation, I prefer distinct singular and plural forms of the second person pronouns.

I also prefer using the Spivak pronouns for the third person singular animate neuter.

I have done so many, many times yes.

It's a recent trend in competitive debating that you state a pronoun preference before the start of a round. I'm personally skeptical of the policy but it doesn't really make much difference to me, so if it genuinely means something to trans people, why not.

Yup!  At the beginning of the quarter, my gender-fluid TA asked all the students in the class to identify the pronoun they prefer (along with our major and class standing).  Everyone was cis, which surprised me at the time for some reason.

On the internet, yes, obviously (for the record, I am male and prefer "he"). In real life, I've never had to. Didn't vote since in my interpretation of the question Yes would be 100%, which I don't think is what you're looking for.

A more interesting question might be asking whether it's ever been necessary to specify the pronunciation of your first and/or last name.

I was involved in OWS work groups and we'd always go around in a circle with our "names and preferred gender pronouns."

The fact that it is so offensive to you that someone dares shake you out of your comfort zone to create a welcoming environment for everyone speaks volumes.

To answer the question, I don't know that I have ever, but of course there's no logical reason to be opposed to a situation in which everyone is asked to.

Yes, as people on phone keep assuming I'm female for some reason.
