There is a goldmine of information in the Minnesota GIS files, almost all of it down to the precinct level - here is an 04 Presidential map by precinct:

nice! I remember seeing a town map for MN from 2000 that was somewhat similar, I thought that was very cool.

Thank you for your effort, Don.  Made my day.

Could someone explain to me what's with the one Republican precinct in the very centre of the Democratic areas?  It looks kind of ugly there.

Yes, its sad how a beautiful jewel has to be completely surrounded by so much ugliness Smiley

I seem to recall we had that discussion before, and the precinct is dominated by the campus of a born-again school of divinity.

Actually that was the 2000 map. I have to wait for my membership to renew to get the exact results again, but this precinct didn't vote for Bush by that much either, only 1 or 2 points. That's a fairly wealthy area so that might explain it. I don't know what happened to the fundamentalist school's precinct, unless turnout changed radically.

Something I do remember looking up though that was kind of odd, that precinct did vote for Ellison, and with over 50%.

Yeah, I just figured it was probably the same precinct.

Turns out I was wrong...
