He's the current GOP governor of Massachusetts, enjoying the highest approval rating of any governor in the country. A moderate Republican, even moreso than Romney.

Let's assume that Hillary is the next President.  Let's assume that Baker decides to run in 2020 and somehow manages to win the GOP nomination. Would Baker be the type of Republican who can finally penetrate the northeast/west coast blue wall that has been around since Bill Clinton's realignment in 1992?  In other words, be the Arnold Vinick of the GOP.

Problem is, Baker won't win the nomination because he can't represent a majority of the party. It's he same reason Joe Manchin will never be nominated by the Democratic Party.

IF Baker ran as he is now and doesn't flop on his positions and gets the nomination, then yes, very much so. But that would require the entire GOP to moderate itself, which is the opposite of where it's going right now.

Easy to have high approvals when you consistently kowtow to the democratic legislature. Only hope hed have to make it through the primary is a win in New Hampshire

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

The idea of the party that gave us Donald Trump and Ted Cruz as the final contenders in their nominating process putting up Charlie Baker as their standard bearer is so utterly ridiculous it's not even worth considering.

Yep, but thankfully most people on here recognize this and know that Baker wouldn't have a chance. What is amusing, though, is the fact that most people on here sincerely think Paul Ryan will be the 2020 nominee, which is almost as absurd as Baker winning the nomination.

2020 nominee will be either Tom Cotton, Ben Sasse, or Scott Walker.  I would be thrilled with any one of them.

Seriously (lol), what about this year's Republican primary convinces you that's even possible? Let me remind you Scott Walker went from top contender to 0% within two debates.

Charlie Baker will never be president and will lose the nomination to Ted Cruz in 2020
