Hillary has been thrashed in the primaries, to a large extent, by Bernie.

Recent polling has shown Donald is running neck and neck with Hillary in key states.

The Democratic primary is becoming very ugly and divisive, witness Nevada.

Bernie is nowhere near dropping out, and is inciting his supporters with false hopes, witness his Tuesday night speech after Oregon to supporters in California.

The Bernie insurgency could cause chaos at Democratic convention.

Donald is running as the outsider, the anti-establishment candidate, and the mood of the country is swinging toward outsiders and away from the establishment.  Hillary is purely establishment.

Contrary to pontificating by Hillary supporters for the past year that she is "inevitable", no, she is not "inevitable".

I am no fan of Donald, but these are, and will continue to be, tough times for Hillary.

So it is time for all the "Hillary is inevitable" crowd to step down from their high horse.

She's inevitable. Bernie has had disappointing wins in IN, WV and OR and likely could have won KY which was friendly to him.

He's going to be thrashed in NJ and DC and lose CA and NM from 6-10% and possibly SD.

Bernie and Trump need to be punished.

I think those who referred to her as "inevitable" were doing so in reference to the primary.

It's a campaign. Polls will shift. Republicans just picked their nominee so Trump got a nice post-primary bounce. Clinton should get one when she wraps it up, and hopefully Sanders plays nice so that she can keep that lead until the convention and beyond.

Hillary may not be inevitable, but Trump is not going to win this thing with his serious unpopularity with females, who make up most of the voting public. And what ethnic group has he not trashed?

I think this election is boiling down to male vs female. And the males and male supporters are scared that Hillary just might win, so they are pulling out all the ugly stops.

Too bad that the GOP couldn't come up with someone who was more acceptable to the general voter than Trump. So while Hillary may not be inevitable, Trump is a hideous alternative to her.  Good luck with that.

Remember when John McCain wrapped up his nomination in March 2008, but Obama and Clinton were still in a deathmatch until June?  Clinton even won one of the very last primaries, in fact.

How did that general election turn out, again?

Nobody has ever claimed she is inevitable. She is simply the only thing that stands between us and the horror that would be Trump presidency.

At this point, if you have a drop of decency in you, you simply have to support her. Some things are just too important. Vote for Hillary Clinton on November 8. The stakes are too high to stay home.

Well I guess it settles this.

Based on Winfield's prediction, we can now project Hillary is President-elect.

Not really sure how winning the primaries easily by double digits is getting "thrashed" but okay...

I love some of these replies, sarcastic and humorous at the same time.

Gotta love it.

To be clear, I have not said here that Hillary would not win the election.

I have simply stated she is no longer "inevitable".

But I have to say that Hillary is "inevitable" for the Democratic nomination, but not for the general election.

Well,  when you consider that Bernie started off with, what, 6% support when he announced his candidacy?

He has now won, I believe, 20 primaries and caucuses, in fact, upsetting Hillary in places where she should have won.

A very impressive showing for an insurgent, at the time not well funded, campaign, squaring off against the Democratic establishment, and against the establishment candidate, who has been campaigning for President for the past 8 years, and has had tremendous financial resources to draw on for the campaign.

Not a bad showing for a 72 year old  some time Independent some time Democrat socialist, who is likely to win some more states before this primary is over.

I have never once referred to her as inevitable (when it comes to the general election).  I'd put her odds at around 70-30 in favor of her.  Favored yes, but not inevitable.

Roll Eyes

I'm not even a Hillary supporter, or a fanatic one for that matter, yet I'm willing to admit that she'll probably win this election unless something crazy happens.

My fear is that she's a Dukakis-like campaign away from losing.

Hillary is a waste. Hillary is a big, fat mistake.

I like women who don't aid and abet rapists for political gain.

Well, and I like men who do not practice character assassination against honorable public servants. Unfortunately, you do not give me here a reason to like you.

That's why she must not follow the advice of those who say she should ignore Trump's attacks. As Dukakis proved, that's a death sentence.

The only people who think she's inevitable are delusional hacks and self-hating Republicans.

If Trump wins, Hillary Clinton is to blame for losing the election. She is not entitled to anyone's vote. She has to earn votes. And she hasn't earned mine. If she wanted to be president so badly, she should have reconsidered her conduct in this election and over the past 20+ years in public life.

I would reluctantly vote for Hillary over Trump, but such kind of hysterically sanctimonious approach, as displayed by ag, is making me even more lukewarm.

Hillary supporters really shouldn't worry too much.  She's probably going to win, and the current map seems to be Obama '12 + North Carolina.  Plus, the current polling is before the total unification of the Democratic Party.  If I were on the Democratic side of the ledger, I'd relax until after the DNC.
