Chicago has nightlife and culture that Philadelphia could only dream of having.

Philadelphia is close to the greatest city on this continent and within' 1 days drive of all the parts of the country that are relevant.

You people disgust me. Chicago is the only option.

Philly > Chicago > Pittsburgh

1. This is a perfect example of east coast people being insufferable. You aren't the only relevant part of the country, get you head out of your @$$.

2. People from philly are nasty, as evidenced by their sports fans who threw beer bottles at Santa Claus.

3. Chicago is a world class city with a beautiful coast that none of the northeast cities can compete with, it's cleaner, has nicer people, and as was said above, has a nightlife these cities can only dream of.

First off, I'm sorry that YaBoyNY had to spread his filth, and I do hope that you recognize that he doesn't represent the rest of us Easterners.

That happened almost 50 years ago now. Yes, their sports fans are horrible, but when I went to Philadelphia last summer, nobody threw beer bottles with me, and the people who I did interact with were nice.

Unfortunately, I can't say that I've ever been to Chicago, but the city I live in right now has a great coast, and it's in the Northeast. True, Boston doesn't have much of a coast to speak of, but it's just an hour or two away from Cape Cod, and I have no doubt that the New England suburbs are cleaner. As for nightlife, Chicago does lead in that aspect.

I voted Chicago.  Not sure about my second choice, I've heard Pittsburgh is underrated.

LOL, you guys really think a lot of yourselves over there.  What's even funnier is that when the rest of the country hates your obnoxious and crude people, you think it's actually out of some type of jealousy and not just a disdain for your region's barbaric mannerisms and lack of conversational civility.  Guess the joke's just gonna have to keep bein' on you.

Anyway, Chicago.  By far.

As a Steelers fan and a Cubs hater, it's obvious I have to pick Chicago.

(though I'd be cool with Pit too)

Chicago, because I know more people in Chicago than in any other city in America, although I'd rather live in Evanston or Lake County than in the city. I like Philly, I know people there, and I love living in the Acela corridor, but Chicago wins.

How does it feel to know that even at your height, you were only ever second?

Though I can give you guys that you're definitely a more equal rival than any of those sprawly waste cities in SoCal.

One category where Chicago is unquestionably first is in initial growth. In the first 30 years since its incorporation in 1837 it grew by a factor of about 100 (from 1840 to 1870 it grew from 4.5K to 300K - a factor of 66 and was growing even faster before 1840). By contrast Shenzhen China only grew about a factor of 30 in its first 30 years after being created as a special economic zone.

Chicago also moved up more than out. It pioneered the steel-frame skyscraper and has one of the tallest skylines in the world. Its 10 tallest buildings have an average height that exceeds NYC.

Philadelphia. Best sports, close to the shore (not a lake), great Italian and Chinese food, and much better weather than the other two.

I've been to Pittsburgh a few times and it's meh.

Best sports? I am not saying that Chicago is unequivocally the best sports town, but cmon. Blackhawks >>> Flyers; Bears and Eagles are pretty equal in their underachievingness; Bulls >>> Sixers; and Cubs have better fans and ballpark, currently the best team, while the White Sox tie the Phillies in 1 world series in the past 35 years. Chicago is ON a beautiful shore while Philly is an hour away from the precious ocean. I don't know about weather but Chicago has everything and more in terms of great ethnic foods.

The Bulls are by far my most hated basketball team and the Bears in football. I'd take the Sixes anyday. The Blackhawks used to be my least favorite hockey, but this recent team is OK but still down there. The Cubs used to be my 2nd least favorite baseball team and have now overtaken the Brewers I guess at the bottom. I like the Phillies experience well enough, but I guess Wrigley's decent.

I say that as someone who despises the Eagles and Flyers passionately. And you can't touch the Big Five. I actually like all the college teams out of pity for being worst in class year-in and year-out.
