Gary Johnson Purple heart's former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld: http://dailycaller.com/2016/05/17/gary-johnson-considering-former-massachusetts-governor-for-vp-pick/

But some doubt that theirs is a match meant to be: http://www.bostonherald.com/news/us_politics/2016/05/insiders_dubious_bill_weld_will_join_libertarian_prez_ticket

What will Bill say?

They'd be a good third party.  Neither are really Libertarians, however.

At this point, the Libertarians need electable candidates more than 'true libertarianism'.

I actually like Bill Weld a lot, libertarian heresies or not. If Johnson can score Weld, it will make a powerful argument in favor of nominating Johnson, because it will show that he has good judgment of qualifications, as well as gravitas that I didn't know he had. Johnson/Weld will be a team with a combined 14 years of experience as governors. Johnson will end up with an exponentially better running mate that McAfee, who chose a photographer.

I'm not quite ready to jump ship with the news, though. Maybe if Weld says yes.

I agree, but they are a persnickety lot who may not care enough about that idea.

This combination will take more votes from Clinton, than from Trump. Hopefully, it does not work out.

Johnson picking another former Governor who's been out of office for like 200 years?

MAKES SENSE!

Aaand voting locked!

6/10 voters answered correctly!

Thanks for playing!

(Also, good for GJ. Great ticket. Hopefully the LP delegates don't stick Johnson with some radical like Coley instead.)

Weld's the best possible choice for a Libertarian veep, and if it weren't for his Obama transgression, probably the best choice for the Libertarian Party period.

This should be interesting.

I recall seeing Weld on a panel on c-span a few years back, and he was asked about Ron Paul. I don't recall exactly what he said but it was clear from it he was not what one would call a non-interventionist.

Weld could help to tone-down some of Johnson's drugs and economic rhetoric. Good choice.

Nothing like choosing a VP who hasn't held elected office in 15 years to really ramp up expectations and relevancy.

Nobody, beside us the political nerds, remembers Weld. It would be like picking Dick Lamm.
