Former Democratic National Chairman and ex-Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Hillary Clinton backer, did his best Donald Trump impersonation Wednesday, saying the GOP front-runner’s condescending comments about women will backfire because there are “probably more ugly women in America than attractive women.”

In an eye-opening interview with The Washington Post, Rendell, 72, was discussing Trump’s electoral prospects in the suburbs of Philadelphia, the city where Rendell was mayor from 1992 to 2000, when his comments suddenly began to resemble the mogul’s.

“Will he have some appeal to working-class Dems in Levittown or Bristol? Sure. For every one he’ll lose one and a half, two Republican women. Trump’s comments like ‘You can’t be a 10 if you’re flat-chested,’ that’ll come back to haunt him,” Rendell said.

“There are probably more ugly women in America than attractive women. People take that stuff personally,” said Rendell, who is a superdelegate in the Democratic race backing Clinton's presidential bid.

A representative for the Clinton campaign didn’t respond to questions about Rendell’s comments.

The former elected official later apologized.

“What I said was incredibly stupid and insensitive,” he told reporters in Philadelphia on Wednesday, The Washington Post reported. "When I read it in the article, I said, 'Did I say that?' It was just dumb, and stupid, and insensitive, and if I offended anyone, I apologize."

He's right of course. Most people of both genders in this country are pretty hard to look at.

If a Republican has said something like this, then he/she would be run out on a rail.

If it was a former office holder, like Rendell is, nobody would care.

He's allowed his opinion. I don't agree. I know I've gushed over women others found unattractive.

It is through this sort of thing that Trump wins. Hillary, Rendell, and other Dems just can't help themselves but turn a perfectly good Democratic landslide into a GOP win.

Well yes, that changes the context of the comments somewhat.  It's like black people joking about n****s.

At the very least, they ought to be equal. But, I think it would be appropriate to believe that, in order for attractiveness to exist, the majority would have to be less desirable. "There are more un-rich people than rich people" is common sense, surely. The stupidity of this is assuming that people properly recognize themselves as attractive and unattractive, and that their identification lines up with their interests.

He's not that ugly considering others in the Senate. Have you not seen Babs Mikulski, the Castro brothers, or Rick Scott?

Trump said "it's very hard to be a 10 if you're flat chested."

And America is generally a land of the ugly due to lack of personal aesthetical consideration.

Wow, this guy could make NH a Tossup if he ever won the Democratic nomination Tongue
Again, your ability to whine about NH in completely unrelated threads will never cease to amaze, no, appall, me.

It's actually incredibly similar to Jfern's obsession with Hillary Clinton.

Is TN volunteer being paid to write nicknames for Trump to use? The "Climbing Maggie" is strikingly similar in style to "Crooked Hillary".

But Donald Trump loves New Hampshire.

What does "Climbing" mean, anyway?
