I believe she can only if Bernie drops out next month possibly after June 14th. If he endorses her, mostly all of his supporters will vote for her about 85% of them and the salty 10% will probably vote for Trump,Stein or Johnson.

The Democrats are already united. Every poll shows her getting 85-90% of them.
It's the Paulbots and the left-wing flakes who supported Sanders for their own reasons and are currently throwing a temper tantrum because he lost.

No. Democrats will try very hard to portray the party as united, but just like on the GOP side, there are deep fissures between the establishment segment of the party and those who consider themselves anti-establishment, anti "business as usual", and disenfranchised. Young, independent voters may very well end up deciding this election.

I think the BabyBoomers have one last shot at getting their candidate in office and tentatively uniting the party. After Hillary gets in there and serves a term or two, the Millennials are going to dominate the political scene and vote "in" a Bernie-like candidate, regardless of party affiliation.

Real Democrats, who will stay with the party in the future, will overwhelmingly vote for her. But, of course, many sanderistas will become known as Trump Democrats (not that they will ever vote for a Dem again in their life).

Yes, unless Bernie refuses to endorse her after the convention.

With the right VP choice. I know people might think Im crazy but VP might make a good book end to Sanders career.

I mean, after the election she could send him on a really long fact-finding mission to Laos or to Lichtenstein. But, unless he is an idiot (which does not seem likely), he knows that as well. As a senator he has impact. As a VP he is going to have none.

Sure but it seems like Sanders likes the spotlight. And a Sanders attack dog would be very useful in and out of election years.

Removing a VP from the spotlight is a lot easier than doing the same to a Senator.

She can, with Sanders' help. Fortunately, she knows better than to dismiss Sanders' diehard fans as "not real Democrats" or "loonies", and realizes that they could be critical to beating Trump.

If Sanders endorses and campaigns he should be given utmost consideration.  But that if part is very important.

I think the Democrats will unify, but it won't be her doing. If anything, it will be in spite of her.

It's not so much about uniting the Democrats as it is getting left-leaning independents to support her candidacy.

No, but the threat of Trump can, which will be good enough for her purposes.

Indeed. We're not talking here about Democratc that backed Sanders, but independents, that came in to support Sanders.

Enough to get through this election cycle successfully. I think the threat of a Trump presidency is enough to get a good portion of Bernie supporters on her side. After this though, especially if her presidency is ridden with the kind of controversy she's experienced as Secretary of State, she'll have big trouble getting party behind her once again in 2020 (it's happened in 1968 with LBJ.)

Bernie will support her in the GE. The last thing Bernie wants is the Trumpster at helm. He wants his policies enacted into the party platform. That’s all. Maybe the VP spot.

A lot will depend on Sanders, just like Democrats unifying in 2008 depended on Clinton, but I think it will happen. Clinton needs to put in the work too, of course, and I think a lot weight will be put on the VP choice - which is why Warren is so great, brings everyone together and is a great pick to continue Sanders' message in a less " you Democratic party" way.
