Isn't it sad how in American politics, we can determine elections based on numbers from specific racial groups?

I can't think of another country in the world besides s.africa where our political parties are basically homes for specific demographic groups.

As a foreigner that's one of the very strangest things about American politics.

Although Tories did especially well with minorities last year, in the years preceding the pattern could be seen as analogous to the GOP in some ways, with blacks giving low support and other ethnic groups voting generally variously anywhere from 1/3-2/3 of the white rate for the conservative party.

1) basically every country has political parties that are homes for demographic groups and many arguably way worse than the US.  Political parties are always in some way linked to demographics.  UK for instance has an entire major party just for Scottish people, Spain for people from a certain language group, France for white nationalists.

2) the united states is a much more diverse country than a homogenous country like Denmark or something so there's actually the possibility of demographic sorting

Yeah, this. All countries with significant ethnic diversity have significant political polarization along ethnic lines.

23% still seems too high.  Tongue

Though then again, it is Fox after all, so what they say can be taken with a grain of salt.

Was the 73/26 in 2012 the exit poll predicted in Oct/Nov pre-election polls, or was Obama's support higher or lower?

I just looked back at the polls from back then, and here are a few examples…

September 2012:

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/polls/249837-poll-latina-voters-give-obama-53-point-edge-over-romney

Latino Decisions poll has it at Obama 68% Romney 26%.

October 2012:

http://abcnews.go.com/ABC_Univision/romney-trails-obama-big-nevada-florida-latinos/story?id=17404987

Latino Decisions poll in Nevada has it at Obama 78% Romney 17%.  In Florida, it’s Obama 61% Romney 31%.

October 2012:

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article1943647.html

Florida International University / Miami Herald poll had it at Obama 66% Romney 31% nationwide, and Obama 51% Romney 44% in Florida.

Is there a reason other than religion for the significant Conservative lean of Indians relative to Pakistanis?

Latino Decisions is the gold standard outfit here. Most polls in 2012 had Romney getting 30-40 percent. They were the only ones who predicted the 72% in late October.

Impossible; the Trump tower has the best taco bowls on the planet, and Trump loves Latinos.

the labor party in england, the SPD in germany, the PS in france, etc do MUCH better with whites than the democratic party.

You realise there are some countries in Europe where the only black people are refugees.

And i doubt whether they would able to vote.

USA is the most multi-cultural country on the planet, and the voting patterns are vastly different.

You ain't gettin' no black President/Prime Minister in

Australia
England
Germany
France
Japan
Spain
Sweden
Norway
Greece
Italy
Canada
Mexico
China
India

any time soon.

In my experience travelling the world, the USA actually walks the walk with multiculturalism.

It all started with one US President in the 19th century.

Other countries sound like they talk the talk, but they don't get close to the USA in terms of the employment practices and the real penetration of diverse cultural backgrounds into society.

I have seen it with my own eyes, talked to black, jewish and latino USA citizens in their own homes and workplaces, and seen not just a real improvement, but actual inclusion over what the same ethnic groups would experience elsewhere.

To have a black President shows a society where the path for an ethnic minority is clear all the way to the top.

You could make a great case why China and India are more multicultural than the US, but they have 1 billion+ people.  UK is pretty multicultural.  United states is pretty damn multicultural though, idk how you could say otherwise
