Obviously not.  Congressional Dems have a habit of bending over for Republican presidents.  Plus, you're forgetting that Trump would be a massive embarrassment on the world stage, which has nothing to do with how our government functions.

Perhaps so long as they impeach and remove him immediately at the first sign of something bad and he has a decent vice president.  Are either of those likely?   Probably not.

There IS NOTHING worth having to allow Trump as President, or that could make that loathsome thought palatable.

He is a vile creature, that embodies and emboldens the very worst in us.

I honestly do not know what went so terribly wrong in someone's life that they can look at Trump and say, "Hey, that's who I want to protect my life, represent my values, and be my voice." I pity them, as their life must be bereft of any sense, empathy, or hope.

No. As a Real Republican and Reagan Conservative, I'd prefer to keep our senate and house majorities.

I would so much rather have a GOP Congress bargaining with a President Clinton for some decreased regulation and lower taxes than a Democratic Congress working with Trump to do the opposite (not that either is likely to succeed).

Reagan got his tax cuts passed with a Democratic Congress.  I doubt Trump could get a top marginal bracket cut through Congress, but I'm sure he could pass a bill lowering the other rates.

Can a blue Congress stop mass deportations and targeting of innocent foreign civilians?

Hell no. That's probably the worst case scenario. I have far more trust in Paul Ryan than Nancy Pelosi, and I'd be much more comfortable with Clinton tempered by a red Congress.

There's no way I'd be fine with Trump as President.

Might not be too bad as long as we can block any SCOTUS nomination or tax cut. If we can manage that it'll be as good as Clinton+GOP house and senate, in terms of accomplishing liberal policies in the long run. The problem is that the economy is likely to tank in any "president Trump" scenario, so in the short run people will be worse off.

Yah and Republicans flipped 12 seats senate in 1980, and over 30 seats house, along with reagan winning 44 states forced moderate dems to agree to the tax cuts

That would do nothing to assuage my concerns and would only concern me more. The danger of President Trump was always the thought of him taking some crazy executive action, not that he'd sign too extreme of legislation. Whenever his campaign took the time to write a serious proposal it wasn't all that terrifying.

No, absolutely not. Trump winning the Presidency is unacceptable. I would rather go back and take eight years of GWB than any of Trump. His bigoted and fascist tendencies scare the sh-t out of me more than anything I've ever seen in American politics. The list of things I'd support after a Trump Presidency (*retches by mere mention*) are really quite limited. I don't say this lightly, but I would probably support secession of the West Coast (CA, OR, WA) if this country reached the point that it would elect someone like Donald Trump.

If they really made it a priority, and were fully willing to hold Trump to account, they might be able to.

But if Trump has become President, it means he has the support of a plurality if not majority of voters, which means some Democrats might be scared of going after Trump too harshly if they aren't in safe seats.
