I swear to God, if Smith derails another thread by stalking Lyndon I'll bust an artery.

Interesting. You'd think Canova wouldn't want to turn this into a Clinton vs. Sanders proxy battle considering Hillary won the district by 40 points, and her voters are also way more likely to vote in a low turnout congressional primary due to the fact that they skew older. He probably would've been better focusing on local issues and hitting DWS for abandoning the district for the sake of her DNC chairmanship with only the tacit/behind the scenes backing of the Bernie folks. This could actually hurt him.

Getting rid of DWS should be something that most sane Democrats can agree on, so I don't get the outrage.  But it is Atlas, so I don't understand how most people think here.

That said, I wish Bernie hadn't done this.  It only makes it harder for him to get concessions at the convention.  There are plenty of other congressional candidates he'd be better off endorsing.

What outrage? Huh

Yeah, I'll take that part back.  Lyndon and Smith mutually derailing a thread doesn't quite rise to the level of outrage, does it?

I don't think anybody here particularly likes her, but we're also politically realistic for the most part.  I'd love Jim Inhofe to lose reelection, but that ain't gonna happen any time soon, even if he had a primary opponent endorsed by, say, John Kasich.

I know, but I can hope.

I'm in both camps. I hope Canova wins, but at the same time I think Bernie is being a total crybaby.

This.

Even as a Hillary supporter, I got called a BernieBot for saying that I support Canova. Even as a staunch opponent of Bernie Sanders, DWS has proven herself to be the worst Chair of the DNC our party has ever had, and it's long past time for her to go.

She represents the 11th most Jewish congressional district in the country: she isn't going to lose (of the top 15 most Jewish CDs in the country, 10 are represented by Jews). It also wouldn't surprise me if her district has one of the oldest median ages in the country as well. Combine that with the relative wealth and rightward economic tilt of non-white Democrats in the area and the outcome speaks for itself.

Some of you may be missing the point.

Bernie's endorsement won't swing many votes in the district in itself but it will allow this guy to raise a whole lot more $$$.

I'd still shocked if he won, of course.

It's hard to look at Canova as anything but a candidate being parachuted in by the vocal minority of "grassroots" activists. Nearly all of his funding is coming from outside of the district and he's likely going to do very poorly in the election.

Yes, the money coming outside of the district to Canova won't look bad at all.

To be fair, I doubt DWS's money will be mostly coming from inside the district either.

I used to like her somewhat, but after she announced her support for the Iran deal I started to dislike her and eventually saw that she's a nutcase. Still preferable over any Sanders-endorsed candidate, though.
