I had always thought of them as a disco group but apparently they had a few hits in 1969-1971 such as "I Started a Joke" (which I never knew was them), "Lonely Days" and "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart". Kind of reminds me of the moody blues. Anyone like that era of the bee-gees better than there disco stuff?

As a kid I heard those original Bee Gees on AM pop radio stations. The surprise for me was hearing them in college when they reinvented themselves as a disco group.

Yes I've heard a few of their earlier songs. "I Started a Joke" was awful. The other ones were so meh I can't remember them. Thank God for their disco songs.

Now I have "Night Fever" stuck in my head

I guess I have, since I know "I Started a Joke" from Zoolander.

yeah, they have some great songs from the mid-to-late 60s like "Holiday" and "To Love Somebody" and "Spicks and Specks."  I'm not a fan of their later stuff, disco or otherwise.
