It is unfair to say that he sold out his principles given that he always right-wing.

He'll forever be known as the man who sold out the Lib Dems and destroyed the party, but neutral.

FF. I'm surprised he didn't agree to the merger, though.

Lean FF. He gets a lot of underserved hate - the coaliton formation made a lot of sense and people tend to ignore the good the Lib Dems did in office. Given their polling number history, a good chunk of their left-wing voters immediately hated them for not being part of the anti-Tory mob and the idea that the tuition fees are equivalent to Iraq is absurd on so many levels.

His betrayal of the LibDem voting bloc basically paved the way for SNP, so in that regard, FF.
Otherwise, bourgeois scum.

Found him more likable and sensible than his opponents in 2010 and 2015. The tuition fee thing was an obvious disaster, but his views on the Iraq War and civil liberties made him a far more refreshing part of the Coalition than most of his colleagues.

History may judge him better.

Not in a position I envy.

You do know that the SNP have been flirting with the laffer curve for years, right?

I hate to defend someone like Clegg, but pushing back against the Snoopers Charter comes to mind.
