Funnily enough despite what clash said about "leftists" I would say the exact same thing about some leftist parties, for example the Communist Party of Greece. I realized a little while back that part of an indication as to why Greece is so messed up now is that over 12.5% of their population are murderous, sociopathic, genocide desiring thugs (combining the vote totals of the KKE and Golden Dawn to get that number.)

I was under the impression that the whole "Hitler was an Austrian" thing was invented by the revisionist West German regime after the war to make Germans look less bad.

Not that it really has to be "invented". Hitler gained the German citizenship in 1932 to be a candidate for the Presidential election, and the act was quite loopholish and murky.

Hitler's brand of antisemitism has clearly its roots in the "christian social" and "alldeutsche" ideology of Austria of its time. And FPÖ's ideology has its roots also in the nationalist, racist, antisemite and antidemocratic traditions of the political right wing during the monarchy and the First Republic. Hofer is probably nearer to Dollfuß then Hitler, though.

Over 47% of this forum seems to be quasi-fascist sympathizing. Ugh.

Not far off of 49.8%. Has it ever occurred to you that this is how half the world thinks?

p.s. - I abhor fascism, but I find it hard to fault the voters, especially in the run-off.

The FPÖ are scum, but there is a bit more to them ideologically than 'Nazi thugs'.

HPs, but voted FFs to protest the jejune and frankly dangerous notion that only Bad People vote for bad candidates or bad parties.

Not nearly as terrifying as liberalism - the ideology of death.

Well, as he said, he doesn't live in those parts of America... Roll Eyes

Also, your poll question is partly wrong as well:

Each candidate only got 35% among all eligible voters, while 30% of all eligible voters didn't vote or voted invalid.

And if the 1.3 million foreigners in Austria were also allowed to vote, the results would be more like:

40% VdB
30% Hofer
30% non-voters/invalid ballots

This is why people vote the way they do. Cultural elites like you casually insult people who vote for bad candidates as uneducated. Why is being less educated even a bad thing? Blue-collar folks who work with their hands in manufacturing or construction know a lot of things that people who work in air-conditioned offices have no idea about. Most of them are good people who care about their families and their communities just as much as you or anyone else.

Ehh, people who thinks that Germanic culture petite-bourgeoisie liberals are fascists make me sick. Those maggots are nothing compared to fascists. Hofer only can clean shoes of Dollfuss, and I don't even want to think what Hofer could clean in Mussolini apartment.

FF's(Hofer voters). As beautiful a city Vienna is, maybe the rest of Austria would be better off letting it succeed if it's voters want the migrants so badly.
