This happened earlier this month but I noticed nothing was posted about this. State Rep. Dan Carter won the convention vote earlier this month in the Connecticut Republican state convention  907-123-20 over August Wolf and Jack Orchulli. Jack Orchulli has since withdrawing his candidacy. However  August Wolf is attempting to collect  8,079 signatures from registered Republicans to force a Senate Primary, he has until June 7th to do so.

Yeah, no one really cares about this race since Larry Kudlow decided against running.

The GOP is not exactly bringing out the big guns for this one.

Dan Carter is unknown to just about everyone in Connecticut apart from the 10,000 or so voters that he has represented in the General Assembly for the past five years. He is also not a bazillionaire, unlike most statewide Republican candidates. Having thus neither fame nor fortune makes him spectacularly ill-equipped to take on a wealthy, well-liked incumbent Senator.

The state party is obliged to support and promote Carter, of course, but they're well aware that Blumenthal will demolish him come November. CT Republicans are smart enough to save their resources for 2018, when they are favored to win back the Governor's Mansion with stronger candidates in Tim Herbst, Rob Simmons or Erin Stewart.
