Obviously neither Trump nor Sanders wants to establish a dictatorship ( if you think so you're probably a hack) but who is closer? Trump to Hitler or Sanders to Castro?

Didn't Sanders say something positive about Cuba during a debate (I believe it was the telemundo one)?

Is this a joke or something?
Trump has virtually nothing in common with Hitler other than generic nationalism and those out-of-context coincidences that graphics on my Facebook feed love to point out (bad hair!  hates minorities!)
Sanders openly sang Castro's praises, calls himself a socialist, and his platform borrows a lot of communist/socialist ideas.  Furthermore, he constantly rails against the upper class, blames them for all the problems in the country, and wants to punish them and take their stuff.  The only real difference is that Castro also had a brutal regime for repressing political opponents.  All Bernie does is stir up riots and encourage his supporters to leave threatening voicemails.

There was some out of context quote from 30 years ago.

For all the reasons cited above, Sanders and Castro. But Hitler was so much worse than Castro that if you run the trusted equations

(Trump - hitler) x relative evil > (sanders - castro) x relative evil

I'm not so sure Trump doesn't.

Castro and Sanders, but it's more difficult than you'd think. Trump is pretty socialist too, with this talk of default, etc. But he's to the right of Hitler, Castro and Sanders.

I just got sick of some of our liberal posters saying unironically that Trump was like Hitler. Having studied the holocaust a fair amount I found it pretty offensive.

So why are you starting a topic with exactly that question? Any sane person who knows something about Hitler and nazism understands the comparison is nonsense. Make a real comparison:

E.g.
Trump-Thatcher
Sanders-Hollande

Why would you compare Sanders to HP Hollande instead of FF Hollande. There is no way Thatcher would have been Trump, she was a hard right-wing individualist, like Cruz. If you want to, Sanders= Tsipras, Trump= Le Pen

Trump is way better than Hitler.  But he and Hitler are actually in the same quadrant on the political compass, whereas Sanders and Castro are probably not.

Plus, the guy wants to put Muslims in camps, suspend freedom of the press, and tons of other blatant nativist proposals/rhetoric.  If actually take him at his word, he's extremely nationalist.  I don't really take him at his word on everything though.

Anyways, I'm not sure if the point of this topic is closer to "See, Sanders IS a dirty commie!" or "See, Trump ISN'T a racist!"
