Your opinion of former Indiana Senator Richard "Dick" Lugar (Republican)?

I say clearly FF. He did a good job during his tenure in the Senate; especially in the field of dismantling nuclear and chemical weapons.

Gentleman and model Senator. The end of his career was pretty sad, but his work on nuclear disarmament was very important.

As close to good as a modern day Republican officeholder can get.

Freedom Fighter! Indiana primary voters should be ashamed of themselves for kicking him out of office in favor of Richard "God Makes Rape Happen" Mourdock.

My favorite senator and a role model for me.

This seems incongruous with a Ted Cruz banner.

Anyway, FF.

Until recently, a Romney banner and a Cruz banner would have seemed equally incongruous. That's 2016 for ya.

Politically he was a generic Republican, who, however, was able to work across the aisle. This is the key difference between Lugar types and Tea Party types.

He took out Vance Hartke and nearly took out Bayh Sr, that literally destroys all other credible things.

Good dude. He's uniting some incredibly disparate viewpoints into voting FF in this thread.

Really liked him, particularly on Foreign Policy. The Senate could use more like him.

FF.

He was one of the last sane GOP Senators. As far as I know, he had/has a good relationship with Obama.
