This isn't an issue I find it easy or worthwhile to get exercised about.

lol no. Ditto for breast feeding. Or farting. Or talking loudly. Or other annoying things.

I mean, how often do yall really see people outside smoking? I live in the cigarette capital of the U.S., I smoke with Cigarettes sometimes, and even here, smokers actively smoking are still a pretty small minority of people using public space. It's not like being within 1,000 feet of a lit cigarettes for 5 seconds is going to murder you. But since we've banned smoking inside, we might as well ban it outside too right?

I voted yes thinking this was a poll about indoor smoking bans. (which I support, other than for well-ventilated dedicated smoking rooms like you find in airports) Outdoor smoking bans are ludicrous - you might as well ban cigarettes entirely.

It should be up to the owners of the "indoors" in question, obviously.  But it's not a hill I want to die on.

Absolutely, yes.

As a passionate and convinced non-smoker, smoking in restaurants, bars and other closed facilities bothers me. I feel uncomortable to smell the smoke and all your clothes stink afterwards.

No, it should be up to the pub whether or not they want to allow smoking/a smoking section.

I do support indoor smoking bans. It just makes sense.

On the issue of outdoor smoking bans, I do not support them, but I understand why some communities have implemented them. The litter produced by butts has serious consequences for the wildlife of a community. I could be persuaded.

Indoors, absolutely due to negative health effects. Outdoors, not sure.

I guess i'm kind of a moderate hero on this one. I support allowing smoking in some bars but limiting licenses so that non-smokers and asmhatics have a certain number of venues that they can go to within any municipality.

Smoking should be banned in public areas (parks, federal buildings, sidewalks, etc.). Private institutions should be able to decide for themselves regarding their own properties.

Seconded. I don't really see any logic in banning it in a place you can choose whether or not to visit. Perhaps somebody can change my mind on this, I don't know.

My alma mater banned smoking on the premises between my freshman and sophomore years. Didn't really care one way or the other but it was definitely noticeable, especially around the humanities buildings.

Are we just talking tobacco, or does this extend to any and all substances like marijuana?
