oh boy

EDIT:

Well, on further thought, maybe it will help show Bernie fans that Bernie hates Trump much more than Hillary?

Problem is he's convinced at this point that he still has a shot at the nomination, and will chastise Clinton for not participating.

Hillary made a strategic error refusing the Cali debate, she could've made a plea for unity from Bernie backers and use the airtime to attack Trump. Instead she went back on her word further feeding the narrative she's untrustworthy and now Trump is exploiting this to make her look weak.

Nonsense. Bernie is not owed a debate when he is mathematically eliminated.

Bernie is out of his league with Trumpdedump, but Bernie has stars in his eyes and is enjoying being in the spotlight now. I'd never watch that debate, however. Absolutely no interest.

Exactly how is he out of the league of a man who has an incredibly shallow grasp of policy, and can't really do anything other than utter his usual stump speech talking points, or resort to name-calling when he's backed into a corner?

What Trump lacks in policy he makes up for in good television. It doesn't really matter if he beats Bernie or not - he just needs to launch attacks on Clinton to an attentive audience. That's all this is about.

It's a fairly smart strategy. Why bother debating the guy who won't be the nominee? If Trump performed well against Bernie or came out even, it would've just given Bernie extra publicity. If Trump performed poorly he would've looked like a complete fool losing to a guy who's already lost.

I disagree. I don't think the point would've been Trump vs. Bernie. The point would've been two people going after Hillary.
