I play 4 a lot more than 5 (because the mods....seriously, Caveman2Cosmos is one of the greatest things ever).  There is a lot of good with 5.  I've been meaning to get the expansion packs for years, but now with 6 coming out in October, I probably never will.

(yes, Civ 6 comes out in October....the same day as Battlefield 1 comes out, the new WWI first person shooter from EA/DICE)

My default nation when I play Civ games is Germany.  Italy, the US and Japan are other popular choices.  There are 180+ different leaders (from 41 different nations) in Caveman2Cosmos.

Can someone explain MOPolitico's comment to me?

Alexander should be the leader of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Greece's leader should be Homer.
But there isn't a Macedonian nation in the game, and you have to have Alexander in the game.  It's not that much of a stretch to put him as the leader of the Greeks.

The AI is so horribly bad at war in 5 that it basically makes it unplayable.  Once you've got a couple of archer/crossbowman properly promoted you've pretty much won.

Has anyone played the WWII mod for Civ5?  It's pretty damn good, but doesn't really have replayability.  My current game I'm Greece and accidentally on purpose declared war on Turkey in late '38...which made every major power in the game declare war on me.  Eventually I made peace with France/UK, but I'm still fighting the Soviets with mixed success.  But my shenanigans also caused Germany and Italy to go to war with each other for some reason, so it's not going well for the Axis at all.  The western front has stalled where it started and the Soviets have surrounded Berlin, but I've marched into Ukraine and all the way to Crimea.  I'm considering seeing how hard it will be for the Greeks to take Stalingrad, but I'll likely just keep to my original plan of circling the Black Sea and hoping to keep the Soviets at bay until peace breaks out.
