Beyond which, the title of this thread is a bit misleading. He didn't actually say viral videos caused rising crime rates and even said that he did not oppose people videotaping police officers. What Comey said (that officers might be a bit more reluctant to engage in community policing if they knew there was a chance they could be videotaped and that there was a possibility that this could have a small effect on crime rates at the margins) was still dumb, but it is important to be accurate about this sort of thing in thread titles given that many here (for better or worse) often only read the thread title and/or OP before posting.
