As I said earlier. No pro-life candidates makes JCL an angry bird

Are you still going to vote for Johnson?

Not sure what I'm going to do yet.

On May 29, candidate for Chairman of the LNC Bill Weeks took stage and stripped down to a thong, saying "I thought we could use a little bit of fun". He danced on the stage before announcing the suspension of his bid for chairperson. He was booed loudly by the delegates and removed from the convention. The incident was streamed live on C-SPAN

That's probably what he intended to do. Make headlines.

I'm so glad I'm in the GOP today. The Libertarians are too whiny. They literally booed the very mention of Ron Paul at their '12 convention.

Really?  I thought he was, like, a demigod of the Libertarian Party.

Does Gary Johnson seem like Vince McMahon's really beta younger brother to anyone else?

The thing that bugs me about Johnson this time is he has shown doesn't have a commitment to religious liberty, whether it was him flirting with a burka ban and talking about the dangers of Sharia in America, or opposing the idea that a person's conscience should allow them to limit what they perform in the market.  Add to that Bill Weld, who has supported broad use of eminent domain and just today called opponents of abortion "anti-choice,"  and I'm not sure who I'm supporting this time.  I'm somewhat less libertarian in my views than I was 4 yrs ago anyway, but I'm not supporting either Trump or Hillary, so I should be a part of their audience.  But they aren't making it easy for me.

Apparently not. In 2012, a delegate put his name in nomination. They booed. But it could be worse; I thought the Nevada delegate who nominated Wayne Allan Root at the same convention would be assaulted.

I continue to struggle to understand this party. I thought the purpose of this party was to preserve personal freedoms as long as they don't increase the risk of harm to other people. Yet, the party goes full moron and anarchist and boos driver's licenses even though they probably keep a handful of unqualified drivers off of the road to stop deadly crashes. That's what I would consider a risk of harm to other people. Meanwhile, hurr durr, governments want to issue drivers licenses for control. This was completely disappointing.

There are a lot of people who just want to have unique, pure, hardline-consistent political views so they can act smarter than everyone else.  It's pretty easy to do when your views have no chance of becoming law and will thus never actually affect anyone.

Their line of thinking is that by the government requiring a license, they are simply presuming that harm will happen, not reacting to harm that has happened, and that is wrong to them. Sure, once the incident has happened, go in there and arrest, do whatever you need to do. But don't bet against the driver when they haven't done anything yet.

It's a completely stupid position. But it's what the non-Johnson wing thinks.

I presume this is a great summary of the entire convention (and the Libertarian Party in general.)

If/when I become President my Cabinet will only have 4 seats

Secretary of State - Alan Keyes or Dr. Walter Williams
Secretary of the Treasury - Steve Forbes or Dick Armey
Secretary of War (formerly Secretary of Defense) - General Peter Pace, USMC
Attorney General - Jay Sekulow

A shame we never got the opportunity to ever see this be a possiblity.

Am I the only one who finds it amusing that so many people with Republican avatars in this thread, or Republican hacks in libertarian clothing like JCL, are bemoaning the fact that they didn't nominate a "true libertarian" and are becoming GOP lite? While most of the genuine libertarian posters are happy with it. lol

Also, jeez, I can't believe this thread was 20 pages. I wonder how long the DNC/RNC threads will be.

Tbf I can understand why true libertarians are agitated. If GJ manages to bring in a flood of nevertrump money/activists/commentators the party will enlarge and leave them in the minority. It would be well and truly the last rodeo for D W Perry Sad

It's about the "Right to travel", google it and you'll find a lot of arguments with legal quotes, etc from somewhat rational to delusional.

Yeah.  I can't even look at Gary Johnson without thinking of... that.

Maybe the LP should consider remodeling their logo off of him!

This pre-convention interview of Johnson with Samantha Bee is much better and is the LP to a T:
