The LP just seriously considered dropping its pro-choice abortion plank. It failed, though, the LP is still officially a pro-choice party.
Boy, talk about trying to pander to #NeverTrump...

Even as a moderate pro-lifer myself, I don't really see how any party that calls itself "libertarian" can be anything but pro-choice, but I guess you could say that the unborn child has a right to life and that it's the government's duty to protect the rights of life, liberty, and property only?

I understand and somewhat agree with the big-tent talk in here (and I'd be thankful for the Libertarians making the tent big enough to include this conservative), but understand that when you get a critical mass of people in your "tent" who don't believe in your ideals, they can take over your party and change the platform to what they want, and then you're back to square 1 with no way of advancing your ideals again.

Anyway, I like Petersen and Johnson. Neither is the purest libertarian, but at least Johnson has held elected office before and Petersen has good speaking talent and seems quite articulate, and neither is a felon or wants to abolish the federal government. I'd probably vote for either of those.

Is it fair to call Johnson the "establishment" Libertarian candidate?

Yes, which in this context is synonymous with the "not totally idiotic" candidate.
And has held elected office before

I'm flabbergasted that a man who wants to completely abolish the federal government won a state.

Really? This is the Libertarian Party.
I guess I'm not familiar enough with them. I didn't know there were that many people in the LP who felt that way.

I've heard a lot about the new Johnson/Weld ticket reaching out to conservative/Republican donors and voters. Will there also be a push to attract liberal/Democratic donors and voters? Hillary isn't exactly the most popular nominee her party has ever produced.

It's sad that the LP now openly supports candidates who are not even Libertarian. What has this world become?
Same thing happened to the GOP, and, if you give it enough time, the Dems could be next.
