Is Howard Dean busy? The DNC was far more effective when he was leading it.

Somebody not currently in elected office and hasn't been spending time lobbying in the mean time. They should be a relative outsider to Washington, but not pugilistic and attention-seeking (so not, say, Schweitzer) or from somebody too out of the ideological mainstream of the Democratic Party. Also somebody who has stayed largely neutral (beyond their super delegate) endorsement in the Hilary/Clinton vote.

Now where can such a candidate be found? I don't know myself, so I will troll a vote for Martin O Malley.

Dean would be excellent--a pragmatic individual who brought the moribund Democrats to take the House and Senate in 2006 with great candidate selection and a 50 state strategy.  But times have changed--and he and Bernie don't get along...

How is that relevant? If Bernie keeps up his assault on Clinton, he is going to be on the wrong side of nearly every Democrat in DC.

Reasonably sure that whoever's Chair of the DNC will have about zero effect on this election, actually.

Tim Canova. Or, if we're bringing back some old guys, Howard Dean.

He didn't mean 'old' as in age. He meant 'old' as in experience.

Dean has a feeding tube in his stomach connected to an insurance lobby office on k street, so it's hard for him to do the requisite traveling for the job nowadays.

Martin O'Malley sucks but seems like the right guy for the job tbh.

You do realize Canova is running a losing race for DWS' house seat, not for DNC chair. Even if he did win, why on earth would he be elected DNC chair as a freshman? That position requires connections to fundraisers and legislators that he just won't have.

I know you're probably joking but I had a panic attack reading that post.  CC is a better person than DWS, but could possibly be an even worse DNC Chair

It's probably Rahm Emanuel, for better or worse. He'd be a good party hack. If he doesn't run, I expect DCC Chair Ben Ray Lujan or Steven Grossman may run.

Besides that, the progressives will run either Arshad Hasan or Charles Chamberlain. Dean is probably wrangling for a Cabinet position.

Dean would be a good choice, but Sanders might whine. O'Malley is a good compromise choice.

I'd imagine they'd do everything in their power to get Dean back. I maintain my stance that it was a mistake to let Dean go.

A deeply unpopular mayor or a former Vice President? I don't think so.

Agreed.  This is only tangentially related to 2016, and really belongs in US General Discussion, so moving it there...

I don't know why people are throwing out O'Malley - doing something for the good of anyone but himself hasn't generally been his career norm.
