Thanks for doing this, could we call assemblyman  mlas (members of legislative assembly), it is shorter when we need to make documents,plus it is gender neutral. If you don't like that can we all least call them assemblypersons.

How about "Legislator"? It's gender-neutral, but not as dry and non-indicative of the job as "MLA" and not as long and generally odd-sounding as "Assemblyperson."

I would support that
