Depends on the running mates.

Most likely, both parties would elevate the VP candidates to the status of de facto nominees and instruct their respective electors to cast their votes for them.  There would probably be emergency measures in state legislatures with laws against faithless electors to authorize a last minute ballot change, or otherwise allow the electors to pledge their votes differently from what's on the ballot.

On Election Day America would be choosing between the VP nominees.

Amy Klobuchar would beat Newt Gingrich very slightly.

People don't normally go to jail during civil proceedings.

Under the extreme circumstances, I'm sure SCOTUS would do whatever was necessary to accommodate both parties picking replacement candidates and reissuing of ballots, up to and including rescheduling the election to sometime in December.

SCOTUS has no jurisdiction over when election day is set, nor who is on the ballot in each states.  That's up to the state government.  Not that they wouldn't try to construct some frail reasoning.

I'm going to have to pose this in Presidential Election Process: What's stopping a state from running their presidential election on a different day?

Mitt Romney mounts a late entry write in campaign and wins the election.

America, and the world, are thereby saved from World War III  which would have been caused by Donald Trump and from bankruptcy which would have been caused by Hillary Clinton's spending policies.

Romney goes on to win a landslide reelection in 2020, and goes down in history as one of the most beloved and truly great Presidents, and his likeness is added to Mount Rushmore.

It will be a battle as to who could write in Ted Cruz or Bernie Sanders more. Even in this event, the Libertarian party would have no chance

That doesn't even have to do with the question? And I really don't like the fact that you're implicating that I might die here...

It probably would be Biden/Warren vs. Ryan/Sandoval, and the outcome reverts to something between a tie with the EC in doubt and a narrow Ryan win given the fundamentals.

Try Cruz/?. Ryan won't get it because he blew his shot.

Why should TRUMP get imprisoned? He didn't delete classified emails or used a private server for them.

Why are people so insistent that an imprisoned person can't become POTUS?
