Online Data Collector Leip to Run for 2006 Massachusetts Governor Election.

Dave Leip, age 35, has announced today his plans to run for governor. He will face a tough fight running against Deval Patrick, Chris Gabrieli, and Thomas Rielly. Leip runs an internet election data site called "The Election Atlas."

Leip announced his candidacy on the campus of MIT.

One enthusiastic member of his website, one "jfern", reportedly from California, said "I like that he's not from the establishment. Go Dave!"

LEIP EARNS SURPRISE PRIMARY WIN
Dave Leip today surprised everyone by winning the Massachusetts Democratic Gubernatorial Primary, expected to be an easy win for Deval Patrick. Let's look at the map:

Dave Leip √ 38.6%
Deval Patrick 36.4%
Thomas Rielly 16.4%
Chris Gabrieli 8%

Attorney General Patrick has stated that he will be returning to the private sector, wholeheartedly endorsing Leip directly after it was called. Leip has stated he'd like to move on to the next round.

No, I intend to continue both, although both may be infrequent.

Just letting everyone know that as this timeline progresses, I might need someone to help me collect information -  or at least someone's who's been here longer than I have. If anyone would be interested in that kind of thing, PM me.

Thanks, LLR

NY-20 Republican Congressional Primary

Steve Dunn 51.6%
Sandy Treadwell 48.4%

In this nail biter of a race, Steve Dunn of Hudson was nominated. He will face democrat Kirsten Gillibrand in a traditionally republican district. Dunn was noted for receiving 97% of the vote in his home town of Hudson. Dunn would become the second person (after Wisconsin's Tammy Baldwin) to be elected to congress while being openly gay, if he were to win.

Meanwhile, on the Atlas Forum

(Congressional Elections sub forum) NY-20: Torie's running!

Poll: would you vote for Torie?
Yes: 77%
No: 15%
Undecided: 8%

Your time will come. All our times will come. (Would you have been constitutionally eligible to run for anything in '06?)

ELECTION NIGHT 2006

Hello all, and welcome to coverage of the election night 2006. The Democrats will be looking to rally off of Bush's low approval ratings to retake the Senate and House. It will not be easy to do that, but it is not out of the realm of possibility.

We can make a projection. Dave Leip has won the Massachusetts Gubernatorial Race. He will succeed Mitt Romney as the next Governor of Massachusetts. Leip, 35, ran a longshot bid and upset Deval Patrick in the primary last summer, and here he is, governor of Massachusetts.

Final results:

House:
Democrats 232
Republicans 203

Senate:
Democrat 49 (+2)

Republicans 49

Dave Leip won the Governor's race easily.

Dave Leip 56%
Kerry Healey 32%
Other 12%

Steve Dunn (aka Torie) was elected to the House.

Steve Dunn 50%
Kirsten Gillibrand 49.2%

Thanks for reading! A couple updates in and I've already killed Deval Patrick and Kirsten Gillibrand's careers! What do you think? Comments welcome!

Nice.
How are Dunn's reelection chances looking like in 2008?
Also Adam Griffin HAS to be somewhere eventually.

He's 18 as of 2006, give it time. As to Torie, it depends on who the presidential nominee is. With Giuliani, he should be fine.

We'll see...

Things can be arranged for.
