The American Parliamentary System

After 8 years of success, Prime Minister Barack Obama has stepped down, and the Democratic Party has selected Hillary Clinton to replace him. America is similar to how it is today, and here are the parties:

The Democratic Party - The incumbent Party is center left, advocating infrastructure improvements, dealing with the increasing income gap, and lowering the cost of college education. Clinton won a surprisingly close battle with MP Bernie Sanders, who amassed a large group of grassroots activists to vote in the first ever National Democratic Leadership primary. Nevertheless, Clinton came out of it and is hoping to hold on to the parties seats.

The Republican Party - A center-right Party that is lurching ever right-ward. In a manuever that has pissed off the party rank-and-file, party officials selected Jeb Bush to lead the Party in November. The party is facing internal struggles over America's role in the world and the best way to tackle illegal immigration, both issues that Bush does not check off with the Party line.

The Refrom Party - the previously failing protectionist brand is being ressurected for the run of New York Businessman Donald Trump. Trump's platform includes Building a Wall, Making Mexico Pay For It, Making America Great Again, and other sayings. Trump's been polling rather high in opinion polls and some think he may even win.

Texas Independence Party - This is a very powerful regional Texas party. They are very far right, advocated letting Texas be its own Republic. Led by MP Greg Abbott, it is also easily the most socially conservative party, running hard against Obama's executive orders involving Restrooms.

Libertarian Party - Led by Former Republican MP Gary Johnson, running on a *duh* Libertarian Platform.

Green Party - Led by Jill Stein, advocating a far-left socialist platform including Government control over the energy.

I voted Libertarian, because as a Southerner my Reform candidate probably wouldn't be very much like Scott Brown and more like Ron Paul and the more right-wing of Trump's allies.
