Story here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/28/us/politics/donald-trump-campaign.html?_r=1

Jonathan Chait has the most succinct summary:

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/05/trumps-campaign-is-a-managerial-garbage-fire.html

The NYT story also seems to suggest that the push to compete in non-competitive states, or at least New York, comes from Trump himself:

There is probably some truth in it, and it is fascinating reading.  But if Trump is so easy to beat, let's see someone beat him.

I think Trump only knows how to run a con game. We'll see if it works in the political arena against a very seasoned, intelligent, savvy Clinton, who has a well oiled and organized campaign going.

Politics is the biggest con game there is.

His campaign was a dumpster fire when he won the nomination of a major party in their highest turnout primary ever. I'm not ready to laugh and call him a DemPlant yet. His campaign is about appealing to people's primal instincts, plus his campaign generates enough free coverage to where he doesn't necessarily need a coherent campaign operation.

Oh look its another NYT hit piece.   Why don't they do something more useful like report on the dumpster fire known and the federal government and tsa debacle or better yet Clinton foundation corruption.

Fair enough.  I kinda figured there would be some seeing since shes so corrupt hard to hide all of it.  This paper is full-on against trump every week its a new hit job and frankly its disgusting. I seriously doubt they know whats really going on within the trump campagain.  This story is designed to suppress voters into thinking trumps campaign is falling.    Then again this is expected from a publication with a globalist agenda.

I actually like the NYT, but their articles about TRUMP are far away from neutral.

"Making a play" for New York isn't about winning New York. It's about projecting a certain kind of strength to suburban voters elsewhere, like in the Rust Belt.

"Gee, if Trump thinks he has a shot at winning moderate/liberal New York, he must not be so bad!"

And it won't upset his hard right Southern voters either because they'll be impressed that he's such a #winner and going for broke.

Delusional nonsense. Trump could wander out on stage, soil himself, mutter like a demented Brando for an hour and then stumble off and his cult would start explaining his secret genius.

Oh, wait. That's already how it works.

I am still trying to figure out if Marlon Brando was a genius at his craft, or of he was pulling the biggest hoax in the history of films and everyone fell for it and called him a genius.

a newspaper's job is to report the news, and the news is that the stubby-fingered rapist's campaign is a mess. not that difficult.

Runeghost is right. At this point, it doesn't even matter what Trump does; his supporters will all blindly follow him as long as he doesn't become one of those lie-berals like Barry Soetoro and HilLIARy "Benghazi" Clinton. Frankly, I'm not even sure whether his supporters can be classified as human at this point, because last time I checked, humans do not mindlessly rant and rave about how "TRUMP" is perfect in every way, shape, and form, and how he's going to win and Make America Great Again™.
