AuH2O, what has he done or said that's really extreme other than the segregationism stuff?

Well for one he's a Holocaust denier. Then there's his claim that Canada, Germany and the Netherlands are all communist regimes and are worse than Iran. And he supports apartheid too.

i think he siad southa frica was better off during apartheid.

the anc has wrecked the country.  get over your political correctness and wake up to facts.  south africa was once the most promising country in sub-saharan africa.   now it is just another fourth rate hell hole.

so does that make apartheid a good thing? he's actually pro-apartheid. And I even hope the ANC loses control of the government to the Democratic Alliance.

Why are you defending the guy anyway, he claims you are a communist.

You know, South Africa is also much more stable and safer than Iraq is now too.

So if apartheid should've been left in place, Saddam should've been left in power too.

Please produce posts of me favoring the Iraq War.

oops, there are none.

The thing is, politicians don't say what they really believe, at least not all the time. I would run to the center in a national election, and my skills in that regard are strong (rhetorical, strategic, etc.).

Assuming 3rd parties were banned and it was just me vs. Bandit, I would win 80-20 at least. If 3rd parties were on the ballot, I assume some moderate from the Senate or a Governor would run and win, but with no good alternatives I could win it.

Also note that many of my positions are simply too advanced for BRTD to grasp, i.e. that Apartheid in and of itself is undesireable but that utility and even leftist theories would support gradual reform over a complete change.

If you take Rawls seriously, for instance, and apply his "original position" thought experiment, South Africa would CHOOSE apartheid. Rawls' primary concern is equality, though he is technically a "classical liberal," so any time a Rawlsian approach yields a non-democratic result, there obviously are extenuating circumstances.

Now, Rawls himself and others would probably argue against such an interpretation, claiming people will prioritize political rights over things like health and life when they are in the original position. However, all available evidence indicates people will actually put their welfare above the option of political participation.
