In case anyone hasn't noticed, Trump is not one to give apologies.

At any time.

To anyone.

For anything.

Odd to hear Dole supporting Newt for VP when he released such a scathing statement against Newt in 2012.

Dole has always been a party hatchet man.

If there's an upside to Trump, it's that the Republicans are completely destroying what shreds of credibility or decency they had as a party. Either the US is finished, or they are.

Obviously, the Dole strategy is simple.

Luring Trump into picking Gingrich for VP, thus destroying any chance Trump had at winning the election.

Apologizing is a sign of weakness. It is something losers do.

Trump is a winner.

The current President elect of the Philippines, who is often compared to Trump, did not apologize for a far more outrageous thing than anything Trump has said and it still didn't hurt him.

Also, in case you guys haven't noticed, nobody really cares what Bob Dole thinks anymore.

The real tragedy here is that Bob Dole's family and friends do nothing to protect the legacy of this obviously senile man.

In the context of personal relationships, I would not agree with this.  The problem with most apologies is that they are insincere, half-hearted, or apologies only for the effect and not for the action (e. g. "If I offended anyone, I'm sorry.").

But in the context of a rough-and-tumble political campaign, "No Apologies" is pretty much a guiding force.  Our electorate does not appear to reward introspection.

In case you haven't noticed, apparently Trump cares what Dole thinks, as he spoke with him.

I really meant among general election voters, but OK.
