You believe that the party should be nothing but a loose coalition of folks who are vaguely to the right of Labor.

How is that working for you, Yankee? Does that suggest that you have a vision? A dream a goal, a purpose?

I have a vision and a dream and a purpose, and I think traditional marriage is something worth fighting for. Adam is laughing not at me, but at you because he knows he's won the argument. When the debate is over how far will we go, not whether, "why are we travelling in this direction", Adam has won without firing a shot.

That's what you're not getting Yankee. You have a 'party' of folks that don't agree on anything. Everytime you bring up goldwater but how often do you go and say, "hey, maybe that's not cool for Ben Kenobi? Never heard that.

Why is goldwater's fiscal conservativism more important than social conservativism? If goldwater wants to join labor because he wants homosexual marriage. let him. Let all of them go. So long as they love homosexual marriage more than they do the Federalists, you will continue to lose. Every election.

But not supporting sane policies turns off a lot of the sane electorate, which surprisingly makes up a majority of Atlasia. And a majority is needed to win elections.

We can go round and round on this, Ben, but if you want to form a social conservative party go for it man.

Atlasian Queer Beaters has a nice ring. AQB may just take the Congress next cycle, who knows.

Then why are you opposed to the conservative party here on Atlasia defending traditional marriage? You keep giving us dire warnings as to what might happen... well it *did* happen, and like I said, it happened anyways, despite endorsing it and supporting evergreens bill. Contrary to your prediction and right in line with mine.

This is not a winning issue for the federalists. Never has, never will be.

Friends.. Texans..Atlasians! Lend me your ears!

I come to bury TM, not praise him. The Evil men do lives after their death...

While the good is oft interred in their bones.

So let it be with TM!

The noble Griffin

Hath told you TM was ambitious:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath TM answer’d it.

Here, under leave of Griffin and the rest–

For Griffin is an honourable man;

So are they all, all honourable men–

Come I to speak at TM’s funeral.

He was once, my friend, faithful and just:

But Griffin says he was ambitious;

And Griffin is an honourable man.

He hath brought many players to the Feds

Whose ransoms did the party's coffers fill.

Did this in TM seem ambitious?

When cats have cried, TM hath whipped:

Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

Yet Griffin says he was ambitious;

And Griffin is an honourable man.

You all did see his pact with evergreen

Thereafter binding me to silence still

Lest treachery exposed : was this ambition?

Yet Griffin says he was ambitious;

And, sure, he is an honourable man.

I speak not to disprove what Griffin spoke,

But here I am to speak what I do know.

You all did love him once, not without cause:

What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?

O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,

And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;

My heart is in the coffin there with TM,

And I must pause till it come back to me.

Right. I see. Expressing conservative ideals is sh**tposting. Why don't you join labor? I hear they are recruiting.

Last I checked, support for traditional marriage is a conservative ideal. If you don't like it maybe you should be in another party.

You might also want to check post dates, DFW.

Also, the Federalist party is *against* religion? That's news to me. When does the platform update?

I'm a Christian, a non-denominational Christian mind you, but I go to Church ( generally, although sometimes by schedule doesn't allow me to), but the things you say and the way you seem to almost wish harm on those who are having problems in their lives, that sir, is not at all Christian.

How can I wish harm on someone having problems in his life, when I don't know that he *is* having problems in his life?

TM did not post his post stating that he was having problems until a half an hour after I already posted my speech.

I have also chosen to take down my sig - something you didn't see because you weren't here a couple of hours ago.

Look, I am not happy that TM is having problems in his life. But I'm not going to take back a speech that now looks very different because the circumstances have changed. It would not work that way in real life, and it would not work that way here.

If you want to criticize me for criticizing TM, then fine. But I did not know of his problems until he posted about them later.

I am not his largest fan, but I am not trying to kick the man when he's down.

Thanks for being so reasonable. I appreciate that. I'd rather just let this fall - I don't know how much TM wants people talking about his issues here on a forum...

Take care.

Give me a ring when you pass a conservative bill -- any conservative bill -- at the federal level. Don't worry, I won't hold my breath.

And only one of us here has joined Labor. It isn't me.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. And tmth, during his many years in the game, passed innumerable other conservative bills on both the regional and federal level.

Ok. And how does that excuse reaching around the aisle to pass his atrocious pet bill with evergreen? Quite simply, his hobbyhorse vastly outweighed his conservativism. It's a sad thing, but hardly unique. Like Mitt Romney's signature legislation, Romneycare was a massive albatross.

Huh? I guess the party can "officially" endorse "traditional marriage" or whatever, but that doesn't mean have to, which I won't. You won't change my mind on this issue, and I have no plans on leaving  the Federalists, that's all this comes down to.
